Can Jinks turn this around

Can Mike Jinks turn this around. I don't care if he is a nice guy. Louis Orr was a nice guy and look where that got our basketball program. Many of you will say I'm being too mean. I need to lighten up. We've had 2 recruiting classes and a 20 game sample. I'm sick and tired of Babers left the cupboard bare!! Blah blah blah. I've seen nothing in these 20 games to change my mind. Sure Jinks I interviewed well and impressed Kingston enough to hire him. Jinks wasn't even a coordinator. Sure he did well in high school but that doesn't relate to being successful at D1. Jinks should have started as a head coach at FCS or 1-AA school. I've seen nothing to think he will turn this around. We don't have a QB. Loy and Morgan not the answer and Doege sample size too small. We can't block. Can't tackle. Too many turnovers. Have a decent running attack but don't use it properly which falls on coaching. Bad play selection. If you are moving the ball running and averaging 7 ypc why try a trick play. Why the jet sweep. Why the deep ball and commit a turnover. Bad coaching. None of our assistants are much better. Why in the hell do we have TWO offensive co-coordinators!!! Only good thing this year is punter and kicker. That's it. We have a few good freshman but our coaches putting them in the wrong situations.

I do not think we will turn this around. I said 2 wins this year and I'll stick to that. A win against Kent. That's a 5-19 record. And after this season we still have 48 more games under Jinks and staff. He won't get fired. Won't be bought out. Today's attendance on the East side was pathetic. I could have froze the screen and counted the number of fans. Those are season ticket holders not coming. Heck they can't even give away tickets. Huntington bank on Main St this week I was told gave away 17 free tickets. That's it!!! So I ask you, do you think Jinks will turn this around?

I think not...I hope so..but no. Maybe we can buy him out next year if some big donor steps up or I hit the lotto or something. Maybe a 1-11 season followed by 2-10 would motivate the University to erase the mistake and begin anew.

Being really bad (still) might be better for us than becoming mediocre

I've seen nothing that says he can. He looks defeated. His teams the last two years have looked awful. And oh yeah, take a look at that schedule next season, games against three more Power Five teams and road games at Ohio and Toledo. There's no turnaround in sight my friends.

Yeah next year will probably be 0-4 OOC. At Oregon. At Georgia Tech. Maryland. Ugly!!! Road games at Ohio, Toledo, WMU or NIU possibly. That would more than likely be 7 losses. Probably 2 more divisional losses. Oh boy, 3-9 next year!!!!!

How in the heck we going to stop Ga Tech. They average 396 ypg. They had one rushing game of 585 this year. That will be real ugly.

I still think Jinks can turn this around. Quarterback isn't our only problem, but it's such an enormous part of the problem. Whenever Doege is ready, that will help quite a bit.

Jinks ISN'T a leader. He doesn't know how to hire assistant coaches. All he hires are his buddies. He needed to start at FCS or Div 2. He was surprised he actually got this job. Now we are paying for that surprise.

I've seen several posts alluding to Jinks having FOUR more seasons, (48 games etc).
Wasn't he given a FIVE year contract( pretty standard new hire deal).?
With 2 yrs done at end of season, how are you figuring 4 more yrs.?

[quote="hiway44"]Schaden are you serious! QB is the what make a football team go. That is the problem along with coaching. There is zero clock management, no changes on the offensive line and play calling very bad! Its time for a shake up, and its only fair to the players and fans. No way this team is what there record say it is. Where is the discipline? Coaching, and no leadership. I believe we can turn this around, but with some new coaches in place to help Jinks. Its not getting done with what we have.
I believe we have the talent now to win. We just need the leadership at QB, coaching, and an AD that will step up and help Jinks. Make some noise, might put a spark in Coach Jinks?[/quote

Seriously! You are way off base. This is the most unathletic o line I've seen at bg. We have issues everywhere. QB is just the head of this

You are correct. I was mistaken. Only a five-year contract. So after this year, only 36 more games on his contract unless we are in the national championship playoffs that will have a few more ;-)
