With their dominating win last night over #2 Canfield the Eagles will play next Friday for a state championship and an undefeated 15-0 season. Good luck to our high school neighbors.

I'm an Eastwood alum and am very excited about Eastwood making it to state. We play Wheelersburg for the championship. Go Eagles! Beat the Pirates!

Heck. As long as you guys are touting your alma maters, my Cuyahoga Heights Redskins play for the D-7 title Friday morning at 10am. They lost in last yrs championship game so maybe it's their turn ( against Minster HS ). Of course I graduated " just a few yrs before most of you. :)

What a heartbreaking loss for Eastwood.

Take the lead 14-7 with 1:21 left. Wheelersburg ties it up with :13 left. Wheelersburg scores in O.T first on a fake FG to go up 21-14. Eastwood running back the fumbles the ball on the 2 yd line and the Eagles are defeated. Heartbreaking.

i'll give a shout out to Coldwater of the little MAC. Although they did not make it to the state finals this year, they ended 9-4 losing for the second time to Marion Local. That breaks a streak of state final appearences since 2009. BG alum Chip Otten is their coach and this is his first time not making the state finals ( believe since 2011). The run spanned across div 4, 5 & 6.

I don't think anyone mentioned it, but former BG long snapper Craig Rutherford is the head coach at Eastwood. Another former Falcon player, Clay Rolf, is also on the staff at Eastwood.

A gut wrenching loss, but a great game.

Was at this game too, after my Cuyahoga Heights Redskins fell for 2nd yr in row in Championship game. But coach was interviewed after game talking how proud he was of this group, which returned only FIVE starters from yr. ago. Checking rosters was interesting in that Cuy Hts had 36 kids on roster (9-12), while Minster had 63 kids. Guessing there might be a pretty large attendance grouping range for D-7.
Enjoyed talking with a couple of Eastwood fans who recognized my BG cap. And it was a heck of bad way to lose, but credit also has to go to a team that can go downfield to tie score in about a minute.

Point of clarification, it was not a fake FG. It was fourth and short from the 11 or 12. Wheelersburg sent out the FG unit. Then called time out and put the offense back on the field. The handed off to the RB who then did the Tebow jump pass to the wide open TE. Great play, Wheelersburg coach stated they had never run that play in a game and this was a heck of time to call it.
