Instead of beginning the 2019 season @ Maryland, we have shifted that return trip to College Park to 2024, and we are opening the 2019 season on the Thursday night before Labor Day, at home, against Morgan State.

Updated 2019 Schedule:

8/29 vs. Morgan State (Thursday)
9/7 @ Kansas State
9/14 vs. Louisiana Tech
10/5 @ Notre Dame

I think we will. We should beat Morgan State by 50.

Last year, they were 3-8. In games against FBS schools, they lost 62-0 to Marshall and 60-3 against Army. The year before that (2015), they were 4-6, and the only game they played against an FBS school was against Air Force, and they lost 63-7. The year before that (2014) they went 7-6 and in the only FBS game they played that year, they lost to Eastern Michigan 31-28. While that doesn’t sound bad, that was when Eastern went 2-10. In 2012, they lost to Akron 66-6, and that was the year Akron went 1-11.

I have faith.

I think that's a positive change. We already have 3 P5 opponents next year and its likely too late to adjust 2018. La Tech has had some decent teams recently as well. So 2018 we have Maryland at home and 3 away, La Tech, Ga Tech(yikes) and Oregon(yikes). W/o counting the 2018 recruits, we have 7 new D-linemen next year (all R-Fr). I hope a few of them step up big time.

Correction, we have EKU next year, not La Tech. That helps a little.

I like this rescheduling of the Maryland game and adding the Morgan State game in 2019 a lot. BG way overloaded on Power 5 teams with 6 scheduled in the next two years (3 in both 2018 and 2019). This will at least make 2019 a little more manageable now with two.

Other schedule notes: BG has added Robert Morris in 2020 and has rescheduled the Louisiana Tech road game from 2021 to 2023.

Here's the updated future schedule:

2018
9/1 – at Oregon
9/8 – Maryland
9/15 - Eastern Kentucky
9/29 - at Georgia Tech

2019
8/29 – Morgan State
9/7 – at Kansas State
9/14 – Louisiana Tech
10/5 - at Notre Dame

2020
9/5 - at Ohio State
9/12 - Robert Morris
9/19 – at Illinois
10/3 - Liberty

2021
9/4 - at Tennessee
9/11 – South Alabama
9/25 - at Minnesota

2022
9/3 – at UCLA
9/24 - at South Alabama

2023
9/2 - at Liberty
9/30 - at Louisiana Tech

2024
9/21 - at Maryland

2025
9/6 - at Minnesota

2026
9/5 - at Arizona State

I agree with BGSU33. This is better. I hope we can stick with this plan.

Thursday night home opener before Labor day is my favorite home opener.

I think it'll be nice. If it were that Saturday, I feel like student attendance would take a hit since everyone goes home. With it being a Thursday night, it'll be a big event. Especially if we're well improved this year, because there could be big expectations going into the 2019 season...
