Be interesting to see what input athletics might have in the future and what impact a change might have on budgeting

She has been such a great president and rep for BGSU. Will be sorely missed!!

So I have to say I am a bit disconnected. I do not live in or anywhere near Ohio so I do not regularly see news. Is there some controversy at the university which led to the president resigning in the middle of the academic year? This just seems completely out of nowhere so it comes as quite odd and unexpected to me.

I will definitely miss her. She's done some favors for me that I doubt most college presidents would take the time to do.
Hope BG. retains her asst., Lisa, who is a real gem also.

Also, I hope this is not a health related issue.

I'm surprised, too, but the way this played out at the Board of Trustees meeting suggests this has been in the works for a while. (They immediately awarded her an emeritus role, for example.)

She has been a strong supporter of athletics. I hope the next president offers as much support.

She has been very supportive in attending events and verbally but I think more could be done as far as budgeting. She has had a tremendous effect on the physical plant and raising the general rankings of many of the departments, as well as just being a very nice person! Sad to see he leave.

I believe she is doing this because she wants to enjoy life. I do not believe she was forced out by the Trustees or that she did something that is going to give BGSU as black-eye.

The university lost a member of Capital Planning to cancer back in October. He was approximately 64 or 65 years old. I read in one of the articles about her retirement that she had reflected on Steve's death (we had a memorial service this afternoon on-campus) and I believe that while she is still healthy, she wants to get out and enjoy being able to spend time with her kids and her grandchildren.

Her contract was to run through May or June 2019, so she is leaving about 18 months earlier than expected. I believe we have a very capable interim President in Dr. Rogers and think he will be a solid candidate to become the next President if he puts his hat in the ring. I believe he received his MBA from BGSU; he was the Dean of the College of Business before becoming the Provost.

I am waiting for the four or five trolls that we have on this site to come and say she is stepping down because she approved the Jinks hire.

Stepping away to enjoy life and hand off the reins to someone else? Man I hope at some point I'll be able to do that. I read she received a standing ovation from the board of trustees and based on my interactions with her, well deserved that is.

My Dr. Mazey story took place last year when I was moving my daughter into Anderson. Came across her doing an interview and chatted with her afterwards. Thanked her for supporting the hockey team (yes, I know it's a football thread...sorry). She said she knew nothing about hockey when she started but quickly came to be a big fan. She then mentioned how great it was that McPhee was the new GM at Vegas. I was shocked the president of the university knew that. Big shoes to fill for her successor. Roll Along, Dr. Mazey!

I was starting to think along these lines. She is 68 years old.... will be 70 or nearly so when she finishes her final duties here for the succession. She has had a great career and now its time to enjoy some free time.

In my eyes (and heart) -Since 1979 when I walked on campus as a freshman, she has been the best president we've had. Outgoing, engaging, student-oriented. There never was a President that was so accessible to the students and alumni and always present at events.
