MAC in bowls

1st - Akron got stomped in what admittedly was a bad matchup playing a team on its home field. OU won its game easily, but CMU had EIGHT turnovers in a poor performance. Now Toledo looks like they came to sight see in Mobile. Can't run the football ( it ain't BG's defense there guys).
Woodside shows what happens vs a strong rush . Had similar probs when OU did a number on them.
The MAC has NOT looked good!

It's good that we didn't have the opportunity to get smacked this year, right? /s

I’m here, yes we sucked royally tonight. That said don’t you guys own the distinction as having the record for the worst bowl beatdown in recorded history? See you next year in the Glass Bowl... 2965 and counting.

BG does.

They were also a mediocre team that year, not a conference champion. At least they scored.

Back to the purpose of the thread, the MAC this year was awful and Ohio was hands down the best team in the East, but let their guard down against Akron and wound up watching the championship game from home. Not surprised they handled UAB after they handled Toledo earlier in the season. They likely would have beat Toledo again in a rematch.

Hopefully NIU can get a win and the conference can bounce back next year because it was not good in 2017.

Yes, I believe that Ohio was the best team in the MAC this year, which is very strange because we kind of should have beaten them this year... Oh well. It was fun to watch the Rockettes blow it in prime time, and it'll be nice to finally beat them. I'm hoping for it to come this fall! Go Falcons!

Whilst I watched App State make Toledo put on lipstick and wear a frilly dress...I thought , "man...Jason Candle is a $1,000,000 per year Head Coach"

I thought 2007 was the worst the MAC could be. I was wrong. 2017 is the worst.

There was only one good team. Ohio. And they pulled an Ohio and collapsed late. At least they won their bowl game.

The division champs embarrassed themselves in bowl games. I'll repeat what I said a few weeks before the championship game: whoever wins the MAC needs to put an asterisk next to it in the record books.

UT played three good teams all year. They were blown out in all three by a combined 124-40.
When you play 11 fluff teams (us being on the fluffier side), you can't be prepared to play a real team when it shows up.
App State was faster in every component of the game and far better coached. I could tell immediately this one wasn't going to be a contest by the team speed differential.

The MAC is and has been really bad for a long time. Our bowl record over the last decade actually points to the mac being horrific.

Been my number one rule for years in my bowl pool. Always pick against every Mac team.

Few of the teams are ever actually good, and those that are good usually don't have their coaches come bowl time. Plus the way our tie ins work it seems like we're almost always matched up with teams that are clearly better.

Hambb,
You make some valid points, ( tho I hate thought of betting against EVERY MAC team).
But this yr. in particular seems like odd matchups almost across the board. Got to believe Akron would have been better changing places w/ OU, for example. But very fact of ANY MAC team playing FAU on THEIR home field is a ridiculous (and unfair?) situation.
And NIU's original reaction to going to Detroit wasn't met w/ much enthusiasm. Plus they have several key players out w/ injuries . Makes this Duke matchup even more difficult. Just hope they pull it off, bring SOME respectable vibes back for the conference.

NIU's offense has come to life against Duke. That QB of theirs is going to have a great career.
