No more Watch ESPN/ESPN3 for Free

Post by gmartin »

Looks like ESPN will be forcing customers to purchase it's monthly streaming service of non ESPN/ESPN2 channels. Looks like to watch ESPN3 programming you will be forced to pay the $4.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly fee. Goes into effect on April 12.

The MAC needs to now say SCREW YOU ESPN we are taking back our Sat afternoon slots.

I LOATHE ESPN's traditional networks..but ESPN3 offers mostly live action of smaller schools. Promise me no Steven A Smith or Berman and I'm on that.

So, my question is: is ESPN going to give the MAC a share of increased revenues? Like I didn’t already know the answer!
I use my I pad to follow BG’s teams. Not happy about this change.

I'm not sure that's the case. ESPN+ launches on April 12. That's an OTT service that can be purchased as a standalone. I think if you are getting ESPN3 and WATCHESPN through a cable provider, that will continue. I get it through Sling.

Yeah but your cable provider (or sling, etc) are paying ESPN for that service. And that cost gets passed to you. So you're already paying for ESPN3, only now it's going to have far less content and the content you wanted will be an additional $5/month.

That's what's shitty.
