Bad news coming

Last night our already thin WR corps took a hit as Datrin Guyton was arrested. After looking at Wood County Jail roster, it appears to be a robbery charge. Have to wait for Wagner or Schmeltz to get more details.

Yeah, good luck on getting info out of Wagner. The athletic department will probably just add free BW3 privileges onto his free Frickers privileges to keep him quiet. Anything to protect that clown of a head football coach who clearly has no control over his program.

Right...because Mike Jinks is the first coach to ever have a player arrested here....

And no...you probably won't here much about this in the Blade. Wagner is on his favorite beat...The Mud Hens...until September

He's not the first coach ever to have a player arrested here, but he is the first coach here ever to have some of his assistants arrested before he even coached a game.

Guys like Robbie Rhodes and Datrin Guytin just give me headaches. Given second chances, opportunities which are not guaranteed and are an act of goodwill, and throw it all away.

Guyton was kicked off the team at Oregon State for a rules violation. I'm all for giving people second chances but it's a shame that Datrin decided to mortgage his future by making a stupid decision. I'm always hesitant to bring these guys on board given their track record.

From a roster point of view, this really strains the receiving corps and I suspect freshmen are going to get a chance if Guyton is officially removed from the program.

Agreed. All that talent and not thinking about consequences. :x

This is the same guy that Coach Jink ,stated was our top receiver and put Teo on the bench for. This is the same guy that caused our locker room last year to become divided. This is the same guy that cursed out the coaches on the side line. Same guy that wanted to fight other players on the sideline. My point is you bring in bad apples and they can ruin the whole team. Solid players with their head on straight don't want to be around that distraction. If we have more players leaving, it might be time for a coaching change?

With you until that last sentence...which frankly...in the context of the rest of what you wrote...makes no sense.

I used to jump on that "take the troubled kid in because he's a ***** guy" bandwagon but not any more. Those guys..as opposed to the guys who have a family issue or just want to play...never work out

Not meaning to sound biased , but I’ve never been in favor of taking on JC guys, unless there were extenuating circumstances as to why they didn’t get into a 4 yr school to begin with. I know some kids get overlooked in recruiting, and the JC route is a good way for them to get that “2nd chance”at being recruited. But too many couldn’t meet admission standards due to poor grades, test scores and yes, “behavior problems”.
This being said, no program could have continued success without some help at selected positions from kids who’ve played above HS level for 1 or 2 yrs.
This is also why I’m in favor of recruiting more home state kids, which is something we’ve not done a good job with, in my opinion. I think we’ve focused on out of state kids, especially the Texas group now, Fla. kids in prior yrs. these kids have to deal with being thousands of miles from home, making a school adjustment as well as a different environment to live in.
End of sermon?

It's official. He's been kicked off the team and he may even be kicked out of the university based on code of conduct. He may be kicked out of school before his court sentencing.
