Another junior declares for the draft - that's three. This time it's a defensive tackle who started six games, registering eight tackles and a sack.

Well, when you're a part-time starter for a team that gave up 39 ppg against Div. I-A opponents - including 70 points to BG - I can't imagine your name is on a lot of draft boards. 8)hammb wrote:Monday?
Wow he must've been a real hot commodity. Saturday was the deadline to declare for the draft, so he obviously had to file all the paperwork, etc by Saturday. Apparently nobody cared enough to ask him till his agent started talking...LOL

No. Actually, there hasn't been much of anything written about Temple lately, aside from coverage of the basketball games. That's a bit surprising, given all the hoopla this "task force" was afforded when it was launched. I would have expected a little more news to be leaking out. The Daily News has a very good reporter on the beat, so I'm assuming everyone is being pretty tight-lipped about things.orangeandbrown wrote:87--Has Temple made a formal decision on keeping football?
The three Temple players opting for the NFL are:
LB Rian Wallace who was a RS junior and is projected to be a 3rd or 4th round pick. He would have been a 4 year starter if he did not injuried his knee in the Big 33 game prior to his freshman year.
QB Walter Washington was a JUCO RS who had one year of eligibility remaining. Mike McGann who was a true freshman starter in the 2001 Temple / BG game will be 2005 starting QB for the Owls. Mike was RSed for the 2004 season.
Walter is projected to be a late Sunday draft pick. He probably will NOT play QB in the NFL.
DL A. J. Lindsay was a JUCO DL with one year of eligibility remaining. He has had academic problems his entire athletic career.

I've said it before, Wallace is the real deal. At worst, he will be a solid pro for many years.bobmo1 wrote:The three Temple players opting for the NFL are:

Lindsay will be seeking alternate employment opportunities.
What other position would WW play? He certainly doesn't seem quick enough to play WR or RB.

He might be misinterpeting a news report.redskins4ever wrote:Temple will play as an independent. No MAC deal.
A news release from Temple states:
1. they will stay I-A.
2. They play as an independent in 2005.
3. They will seek conference affiliation and hope to have something soon.
I could imagine some media de-emphasizing point three if they don't know the background.
