I hope like crazy it isn't true, but a story on twitter claims Chris Kingston used Google to help him identify Coach Jinks for the head coaching role. I hope it's not true because the school looks foolish...we already knew Kingston was a fool!

I can believe it...he wanted Dino Babers pt 2 so he googled assistant coach from program who goes fast and may have been goofy enough to include the term African American

That’s the least surprising thing I’ve read. It was and still is a clown show in certain ways. Look at his track record in hiring. No combination of AD’s have made more embarrassing hires. From Jans being drunk as soon as he got to BG, to that swimming coach, it’s just one after another. Let’s hope Moose keeps the trend going and keeps on finding his own people. The sooner the better.

The tweet may have been quoting The Blade's David Briggs.

From that column:
David Briggs wrote:"With Bowling Green fresh off a Mid-American Conference title powered by one of the country’s highest-flying offenses, then-AD Chris Kingston wanted to keep a good thing going. So he Googled which team had the best offense that year, noted it was Texas Tech, and essentially targeted the top Red Raiders assistant he could afford.

"Conservatively speaking, it was the dumbest coaching search in college football history."
My memory was that this wasn't that far off from what Kingston himself was saying three years ago when he hired Mike Jinks. ***EDIT*** But @OrangeandBrown is saying this is unfair and that the search was more complex than that. I'll defer to him on those details.

***END EDIT***

Speaking of Kingston: I seem to remember, soon after making this hire, that he was part of a panel discussion at an event of some kind -- perhaps an athletic administrators conference -- where he discussed how he made this hire. I have no idea if that event was recorded. If so, it would be interesting to review in retrospect.
