New Bowling Green assistant coach (and possibly DC if Pelini is not retained) DJ Durkin? Thoughts?

A one-day story from the media and we get an amazing coach at a bargain price.

BG’s recent coach hires have had more baggage than an airport.

A nice, boring pick would be welcome.

Appreciate the creativity. Durkin was an amazing DC at both Florida and Michigan.
However, how on earth can he recruit? I was at a coach's luncheon over a decade ago when Brandon, Orr, and Paluch were all around. Orr said the most important sale of a program is the most solemn vow you give a kid's parents and family: that you will watch out for their beloved son and keep him safe during his years at college away from his family home.
After what happened at Maryland, how can any parent look at DJ Durkin and believe him when he gives that vow? Maybe some day after he takes a long time off to evaluate what all went wrong, parents everywhere will trust him. But right now, most parents would send their son elsewhere.

Mack is back officially. Be interesting to see who he brings in for OC and DC. Heard Chizik for DC so far.

Depends who's interviewing. If it's people coaching at a lower level currently in the playoffs they probably want to keep it hush. My guess is Polian's agent threw his name out to a source, wonder if Moose bothers to read any of the alumni feedback.

I fully understand your point, but it's only the media and about 6-8 disgruntled players out of 100 that feel he has any personal culpability regarding what occured. If anyone fell short it was the medical staff, and Durkin is not a doctor. A majority of people don't believe the media nowadays anyway due to their over-the-top sensationalism and desire to bring prominent people down regardless of where actual fault lies.

And with all due respect to Louis Orr, him giving a lecture on effective recruiting is like a mute giving a lecture on effective public speaking.
