If there's anything I've learned in my years of NFL fandom we, as fans, have ZERO idea who will be a good HC at the time of hiring. The things NFL HCs need to do are never exemplified at all whether they start as college coaches or come up the ranks as NFL position/coordinators/etc. There is zero correlation between high level experience/success and NFL HC success, so who knows.

One thing I would be excited about is they didn't go with an NFL good ol' boy hire. The best offensive minds in the world are coming up through the college ranks, and the NFL is FINALLY starting to catch on to these offensive systems. I think Kingsbury will build a legit offense there. I'm skeptical about his ability to bring on a good defensive staff though. He should be looking to add NFL experience to his staff just for some credibility sake in the lockerroom (another reason Jinks going with him shocked me). He couldn't build a defense that does anything at TT. I don't know that he recruited that well either.

Dunno, the whole thing is odd. I think he'll build a good offense, but who knows if that leads to wins. Josh Rosen is a COMPLETELY different bird from Baker/Mahomes though, that's an interesting marriage...

Amazing that the Kingsbury/Jinks offensive system the NFL is so enamored with failed so spectacularly when tried here.

Kingsbury's biggest problem was lack of defense, both in terms of talent and coordination. That won't be a problem in the NFL. I could see this working. Biggest hurdle for Kingsbury will be working with already developed pros as opposed to raw talented 18 year olds.

Jinks was supposedly a good recruiter. That won't matter in the NFL. So his move is puzzling. He was a fine RB coach at Tech and developed some good RBs here, yet he was hired at both places to be a recruiter. Why go somewhere where recruiting is not part of the job? If I had to take a guess, USC gave Jinks no guarantees when Kingsbury left not knowing who the new OC would be, so Jinks followed Kingsbury where he was guaranteed a job.

I wish them both success. Perhaps Jinks will become a better coach.

And he ran one of those QBs (Baker) off the team, apparently not recognizing his potential. I also wouldn't be very excited about this coaching staff if I were a Cardinals fan.

Something tells me Baker's opinion of Mr. Kingsbury isn't that different from his opinion of one Hue Jackson...should be fun when they go down to Arizona next year.

I believe, as with Hue Jackson, there are other things that happened between Mayfield and Kingsbury that have left this lingering chip on his shoulder. And yes, it should be a lot of fun to watch. Let's just hope Cincinnati is stupid enough to hire Hue Jackson.

As a life long Bengals fan who acknowledges they are the worst run franchise in sports, Hue wouldn't surprise me in the least. The Brown family will hire whoever they think will lead to more money flowing into their pockets.

No effect. Both sides settled on a lower amount about a month ago. The book is closed on his contract with BG.

So all he needed was NFL talent to make a college offense work. Now they're in the NFL with NFL talent but they'll be going against other teams with NFL talent per the rigid organizational and roster composition structure of the NFL. Is that like when Wolverine fights a version of himself in X-Men?
