Inside scoop on Temple athletics ...

My source sent me an e-mail today. Here's the crux of it: Temple should keep playing I-A football and try to join the MAC. Apparently, the university president has some academic issues to deal with before jumping headlong into the football/MAC/athletics morass.
So, at the very least, looks like we'll have a I-A OOC game this year.

Thanks for the scoop 87. Was the "join the MAC" part football only or all sports?

Warthog:
Funny that you mention that. My source followed with another e-mail that supports what a lot of folks have been saying - Temple will either join football-only or all but hoops right away, then join in hoops in about five years.
As much as I don't want Temple in the MAC - and I don't

- I'd at least like to see some closure on this so we can get on with life.

The FIRST Temple announcement will occur Thursday, January 20,2005.
Temple has no issues with the academic status of any MAC schools.
John Chaney loves the A-10.

For post number 1,000 I'd just say that I dislike Temple coming to the MAC mostly because it closing the door on somebody, anybody, getting into the conference in their place.
I just wish the MTSU/WKU thing could have been made to happen.

If we can get Temple in all sports, we should go hard core after Memphis and make the MAC the "new" A-10 in basketball. CUSA is a football conference now, and with Temple and Memphis the MAC becomes a very, very respectable B-Ball conf. as well as a great football conference.
I know I want Memphis, but would Memphis want the MAC? I doubt it. Maybe with Temple in Basketball............

I think Memphis is out of the league of the MAC. Memphis has a big time budget for its athletics.

SF is correct.
Selfishly, I
do like the idea of seeing the Falcons in my backyard every other year (meaning I can make three games those years - one at The Linc, one roadie to BG and, of course, the bowl game

). Thinking beyond the Smiths, Temple is not a good fit.
