BG opens +8.

Kent has struggled offensively just as much as BG has. Their lone W was against Kennesaw State in overtime at home. They weren't very competitive against Arizona State and Auburn.

This is probably one of three flip a coin games this season, along with Akron and CMU.

It's a winnable game. Need consistent effort, high levels of execution, some timely takeaways, and a little bit of luck.

Seems manageable?

Ouch. But I can't say I disagree.

Up to 9.5/10 depending on what sportsbook you look at.

Checking the box score from Saturday, looks like Barrett has lost the starting job.

A real issue for us? Red zone offense. We’re 7/13 over 3 games, which means we basically only score half the time we’re inside the other team’s 20.

That’s something that needs addressed, and I'm hoping Loeffler really puts an emphasis on that this week. We're leaving lots of points on the field - points that could mean the difference between a win and a loss in MAC play.

Until they show they can win against a team not from the FCS, I think this will be the case in all games moving forward.

Agreed, however Kent has only defeated 7 FBS programs in the last 5 years as well. It's not like they're world beaters either.

Sean Lewis' press conference. Few notes. Says we are well coached, multiple run game, like to get the big guys in, play hard all the time. Not saying which QB starts but channels his inner Nick Saban when talking about both. Had fun about the idea of being favored.

Are we predicting scores? Bleacher Report had Kent State 21, BG 19.

The La Tech game was very frustrating. The D played a solid game but man the O just could not do anything in the red zone. We have to be able to run the ball well...go for at least 150-200 on the ground. This will take pressure off the QB, whoever it might be. WR's had way too many drops last week. had we executed well, we could have won.

best thing this week is only a 20 min drive to Dix Stadium. lol. GO FALCONS!!!!!

Quick notes from Kent's game vs Auburn ...
- Kent was OK on passing offense. 15/24, almost 200 by Crum. 53 of those were on a beautiful TD throw
- Auburn actually wasn't special on passing. 12/16, 161. The thing is, 50 of that was on a flea flicker TD. I have no problem discounting trick plays statistically. Take that away and Auburn went 11/15 for 110. Ten yards a completion by an SEC team vs a MAC team? If I'm the MAC coach I take that every day.
- the run offense was predictably another story. Auburn out-rushed Kent by nearly 400 yards
- Kent had the ball for 26.5 mins and ran 68 offensive plays discounting special teams. That seems like a small amount of plays considering they run a hurry up offense.

I didn't get to watch the game but I heard a podcast that was very critical of Auburn's freshman QB against Kent. Does any of this mean Kent is a good team? No ... but it does show some competencies. Under the previous coach I would have expected Kent to give up yards left and right, and on offense be utterly incompetent. They had no direction, no real aim on offense previously. At least now you can see what they are trying to do. This will be a good benchmark game for both teams.

The line has jumped all the way to +12. Tons of line movement this week, meaning everyone’s been taking Kent State to cover all week.
