Miami

Miami has Ohio tomorrow and then we are up next. Early look at Miami. Two straight tight wins over NIU and Kent. Beat Buffalo soundly but that was before Buffalo got rolling. Run game went wild on Kent for almost 300 and almost 7 ypc, but that game aside the run game is not impressive and in many cases struggles to hit 3 ypc. Pass offense isn't exactly electric.

Buffalo ran for 300 on Miami, all other MAC opponents ran for under 200. Most everyone hits 3 ypc. Pretty solid defense in conference play.

Miami lost to WMU though not as ugly as our loss. For the most part they play tight games, relying on the defense and low risk offense. The game with Ohio is for east lead and I expect Ohio will win about the same way WMU won.

And one more thing. F**k MACtion and all those totally empty stadiums and alienating alums from outside the geographic region.

Miami has a good quarterback, young but good. A good receiver as a go to man in J Sorenson. He looks all mac caliber and will be tough to shut down if is is healthy.

Its a winnable game but we will have to play as well as we did against tsun. Force turnovers and play solid D...gives us a chance to win. It helps we have over a week off to heal up a bit. GO FALCONS!!!

The place was pretty empty on Saturday. It's easy to blame weeknight #MACtion, but the crowds have always been lighter in November, especially for schools no longer in contention.

Watched Miami-Ohio last night. Miami D is pretty decent. BG OL will have work cut out for them.

Miami won despite being 100 yards down on offense. OU turned the ball over twice, including at the goal line. Miami won the ypp game handily. Offense wasn't explosive but was efficient.

I'm curious how our defensive line will do after demolishing the Akron offensive line.

Miami has a good defense and a methodical offense. Not flashy by any means. BG has traditionally struggled with tempo teams so I feel like we'll have our hands full.

Currently, BG has their best record through 9 games (3-6) since 2015.

The Jinks era through 9 games:
2018: 1-8
2017: 2-7
2016: 1-8

Wow. That is both amazing and pathetic. And hopefully a sign of real improvement.

Absolutely. And still technically could earn bowl eligibility if we win out!

My gut says of the last three, there is a close win, a close loss, and a not close loss. No guess at which is which so I go with a random number generator:

Close win, Ohio
Close loss, Buffalo
Not close loss, Miami

I don't like our chances the rest of the way. Our roster is too thin. But maybe we can hang in there in some of these games left.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

Back to not having Clair and Jones in backfield. Can't believe another RB can't step up.

...we don't have another RB. It's Bryson Denley and guys who couldn't get a D1 offer.

I understand the frustration, but it's not Loeffler's fault he has less than 70 scholarship players available. He will build it back - give it time. There are 3 scholarship running backs and another 2 athletes that could slot in there at RB in this year's recruiting class. He's making sure we aren't in this position again, and I applaud that.
