I was greatly disturbed when he was asked, Loeffler did not name one young kid on the team that was "doing things right"; and rather eluding to recruits not yet here. He is seemingly relying on Eds, St. X, etc to hand him leaders. Driven kids are born, not made. PERIOD. They are not manufactured at winning high schools...they just have more of the good ones there, than most other schools. A coach needs to see them, direct them, lift them up , give them a voice, and make them better. Whether they are a long snapper, gunner on KO, or a walk on...they are there. If he keeps suggesting everyone here is s**t, that's what we will be. He is losing those handful of super dedicated kids, with every snub. This I know. He said it himself, and it is a fact...we have equal talent on the field, at least with an Akron. He better start lifting up a core of dedicated players that are here NOW, or we are doomed to fail.

Nailed it. All these players can’t be bad with no work ethic or an attitude problem. Just red flag after red flag with this staff.

This staff would tell anyone that would listen back in Jaunuary & Februrary 2019 how terrible it was. Talking about how the players couldn't even line up properly and such. The more that left the better. Meanwhile, Loeffler was running through his 2005 Michigan coaching rolidex bringing in Jim Hermann, Steve Morrison, VanGorder, and whoever else he had coached with back in the day. Maybe Scot needs to evolve. Like transfers are OK. They help short term until others are ready. Don't drug test to take the heat off yourself and blame the players. BGSU won't even discuss Covid test results, yet they are random drug testing in a pandemic? Take responsibility for the disaster that is your QB situation. The Toledo Blade actually took to print an article about what BGSU would get for Loeffler to be hired away from BGSU. That article was just 5 weeks ago. Comparisons to Clawson, were just a complete misread.

Loeffler said McDonald will not practice this week. Which should be good for the younger QBs. But made it sound like he would play Saturday. Did I hear that right? And does that indicate the QB situation is so thin right now that a QB who didn't practice all week to heal is still a better option than anyone else? Ouch ...

Last game of a debacle of a season, best to toss McDonald out there and begin planning for 2021. Hopefully Davis and Keller are getting 1st team reps in practice that will benefit them going forward. Don't know what else to say.

I actually had the opposite thought. I would start Davis and have Keller ready to step in. One, give them real experience. Two, send a clear message that the position is up for competition. And three, show Ohio recruits that BG wants you. How better than to play QBs from state teams?

Heavy rumblings from Miami that they may be knee deep in COVID and game won’t happen. Disappointing really.... we need every test-players and coaches.

I think I would give McDonald the start. Give him the first half, if by some chance we are in the game. Give Davis the third, and Keller the 4th against the replacements. Everyone gets a chance at success.

Loeffler made it clear at the start of the season this is McDonald's team. I don't expect him to go against that, especially the last game of a bastardized season.

Loeffler made it clear at the start of the season this is McDonald's team. I don't expect him to go against that, especially the last game of a bastardized season.

Finally listened to the presser. Rogue, he mentioned how there were players "holding each other accountable" in the locker room afterwards. Any idea what that meant? Sounds to me like a fancy way of saying they got angry and yelled at one another.

I'm not bothered by this based on what I can see. When asked if there were young players doing things right that would emerge as leaders in time, the first words out of Loeffler's mouth were: "Yeah, there's no question about that."

It's true that he didn't specifically name anyone and started talking about his emphasis recruiting at the state's most successful high school football programs. But he seemed to be saying that the presence of young future leaders on the team was proof that his recruiting strategy was the right one. The fact that he didn't actually name names doesn't bother me. I can think of several reasonable explanations. (He forgot to answer that part of the question, or perhaps he didn't want to hurt the feelings of some players by singling a few others out in the media.)

That's my take, anyway.
