When will you know?

Post by fanatic13 »

When will you know if there is a light at the end of the tunnel or not this season?

For me it's after week 3. Not concerned about week 1 but south Alabama is week 2 and has won 13 games over the last 4 years. Even with a new coach we should look competitive against them and a win should be in possibility. Week 3 is murray st who improved a good amount this past season (finished ranked) which is worrisome but they are an fcs team. I'll honestly be happy with any type of win but if we lose that would be a tipping point for me and most fans along with the players hopes. Other options could be Akron in game 6 which starts an easier MAC October slate and could roll off some respectable results. However, if we're 0-6 I'm not sure who is still supporting the coaching staff no matter how good the losses look because for me 0-3 is bad enough. Only thing that saves 0-3 is at least 2 MAC wins.

MAC slate for me. We need to see how the program stacks up against programs they're directly competing with, but the panic button will be pressed if USA or God forbid Murray St. end up being blowouts in the wrong direction.

Very good question, but unfortunately you have to wait to season's end.

With these type of "will it work, will it not" seasons, the light can click on anytime. In 2011 for example, BG started out 3-1. One play from 4-0. Obviously the thing was starting to work. And then the team finished 5-7 and the questions came roaring.
Then in 2012, much of this board, including people who are generally very level headed, was ready to fire the coaching staff after about 5 games. Then the light came on and the team figured out they could dominate with defense and running game, but mostly defense. At season's end, it was obvious the team build was on track.

So you just don't know. I know this is INCREDIBLY frustrating. But that is just the reality of total rebuilds.

This would be quite bad.

I think the Tennnenenensssee gme is going to be an interesting barometer. Given the disparate talent levels, it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to that first big punch in the mouth. Show some fight..show some discipline and attention to detail,...I think that will be a welcome departure from the past few years.

I will be a whole galaxy removed from the Jinks era

While I cannot say now, I believe that I'll know it when I see it.
