Loefflers Replacement

So let’s imagine there is an Angel investor wanting to fund the return of BG Football to relevance, and build upon and expand the student uptick at BG. They see the ceiling of borderline mediocrity, at best, written on the wall.
We know we need the following:
Coordinator or HC experience, a proven track record of success, proven ability and want to recruit Ohio, exceptional chops on at least one side of the ball and a good quality staff following, or coaching tree to pluck from.
Any ideas, available now or able to be had ?

Will Healy who was identified by the search committee and built Austin Peay from 0-11 to 1-AA playoffs in 3-4 years is now at Charlotte
Vince Kehres who was identified by the search committee and has the #1 scoring defense at (wait for it) Toledo is available and had a nice run at Mt Union
If you're going to spend the money for the search committee you can't completely ignore who they turn up OR you have to hold people accountable for their gross incompetence. This hiring from the jump was gross incompetence on display. NO ONE in college football ever watched Boston College on offense and said "Damn, we should hire THAT guy" ... Boston College was literally weeks away from firing THAT guy ... that's why he was able to promise he would be here for 5 years.
Moosbrugger and Hughes, in particular, NEED to get this fixed quickly or be held accountable
Others I would consider or seek to interview knowing BG doesn't pay well, but hope the allure of a HC job would be enough:
YOUNG RECRUITERS
Tommy Rees, OC Notre Dame
Nick Sheridan, OC Indiana
Jay Harbaugh, STC Michigan
Brian Hartline, WR Ohio State
PROGRAM BUILDER
Mike Jacobs, HC Lenoir Rhyne, formerly of Notre Dame College (OH)
Jacobs AND/OR Kehres would have both fit the mold of previous Moosbrugger hires of extremely successful lower tier Ohio coaches coming to BG
I'll come up with a more comprehensive list later when I have more time and am less pissed off

Tony Alford OSU RB Coach

Step 1 needs to be to get rid of Moosbrugger. Then worry about finding the FB coach.
How much incompetence are fans willing to put up with?

That's where I'm at too.
We're still stuck in the mud with Hoops and a guy he gave an unwarranted extension too as well as the disaster in Football. I'm not in the least bit interested in letting him hire another major sport head coach.
And that says nothing of continued issues of gameday experience/operations, which I have to think also fall on the feet of the Athletic Director at some point.

I think this conversation is at least 12 months premature...but my bias for a replacement would be a former FBS HC or a current FCS coach looking for a step up the ladder. If we're still considered a step up the ladder from FCS

I have a problem with bad AD’s, starting at HS level. I have to agree with a few comments around today that the whole experience as a fan here, FB or otherwise , is mediocre to bad. How hard is it to get a good hot dog or promote a game day, and everything in between? If you can’t do that, how can you possibly make a hire that really becomes a multi, multi million dollar decision, with layers and layers of possible ramifications?
I met him briefly at our Signing day visit and official. I left unimpressed. I do remember expecting a more dynamic, business like guy…. He exudes more of the weekday manager at BW3 vibe .
He either has to go or be out of the process completely….

It's always been an issue across different administrations, so the problems you bring up I think a lot of us have simply grown to accept. There have been midweek games in the past with maybe 2-3k in attendance where they ran out of coffee and hot cocoa...
As for the thread, until the position is open I think it's silly to speculate. It's always been my opinion that this kind of discussion in a public forum isn't good for the program. Coaches from other schools can use it as a way to persuade recruits away from here.

Been there...done that. They were diluting the hot chocolate so badly one night it was just warm, tan water. Game day experience has always been mediocre at best

Yeah the Gameday operations and fan experience issues have been going on long before Moose got here. But Moose has been here long enough to have addressed issues. Whether it's changing catering contractors or training new event staff, whatever. It should have been addressed at some point in the last 10 years and hasn't been.
Remember the days where we used to complain how long we had to wait for concessions and said they needed to finally hire it done because University Dining services couldn't manage it properly (and it was mostly volunteer workers at the time). Yeah that was probably 10-15 years ago, and the only difference then and now is the fact that the prices have gone up exponentially.
I don't much care at football games since we always tailgate but sometimes the basketball games are a bit of a time crunch for us. It would be nice for there to actually be something worth eating at the games. Last week for dinner my wife and I split a $6 tub of popcorn (which is absurd even by movie theater price standards), and my son ate an ice cold piece of pizza. Honestly, I wouldn't have been remotely surprised if he had stomach issues from it, there is absolutely ZERO way that pizza would have passed a health inspection for holding temp.

Wasn't there a huge row over the concessions not passing health inspections awhile back?

My belief is that the department runs so lean that they simply don't have the means or wants to improve the gameday experience. They can't even get an on field mic to work for the referee most games.

Just excuses…leadership lacks attention to detail and like to say it’s “good enough”
If they were willing to put a little time and effort into it you’d see improvement.

100%. This thread is irresponsible.
