I thought this was a smart post by OrangeandBrown.
http://orangeandbrown.blogspot.com/2021 ... oming.html
He watched Loeffler's look-ahead-to-Miami news conference, and it sounds like Loeffler is about to go big in the transfer portal.
This is OrangeandBrown quoting Loeffler:
"We need to get bigger and we need to get stronger. We need to fill our holes with some guys to make our team better. We made a decision to not go down the 14-15 players transfer portal like a lot of teams did. We did that for a reason. We needed to make sure we had a foundation of local football players on our team to establish some kind of culture, but we've got a good locker room now and now it's to time to fill our holes, get big and strong and to compete for championships."
He says this has been "the formula from the git-go" and that he is following the Clawson model. He checked himself about the championships and said "it's time."
Anyway. Interesting.

LOL. Was this his year end press conference? The Clawson model minus an actual good football coach. Great.

Such BS...why aren't the guys who are in the program for multiple years bigger and stronger...wouldn't that be a part of the "good locker room"...guys that take their jobs seriously?
Dave Clawson is a talented HC with a long track record of success...Scott...you are no Dave Clawson.

In fairness, Loeffler has been citing Dave Clawson and his methodical approach as an example to follow from pretty much the day he arrived.
(If memory serves, Loeffler has also indicated that Clawson (or perhaps it was another former coach) told him this would be a tough rebuild given that the program was in so much worse shape than it was for other coaches who have rebuilt the program.)

I can try to follow the example of Jesus Christ...that doesn't mean I was born in Bethlehem...

Well if Jesus Clawson said it, it must be true. The same Clawson who did the same thing Babers did and took the first job out of town. Imagine a world where you get paid 500k to convince people it takes 5 years to be better than any of Akron, Kent St., Buffalo, Miami OH, and Ohio. 4 traditional dog crap football programs and Miami. Thankfully we got the year end press conference to discuss the 2022 season with multiple games on deck. Loeffler knows the room. He knows Moose is a pushover.

Dave Clawson has got Wake Forest -- which plays in a stadium almost as small as ours -- ranked 13th in the country. He knows football, and he knows how to build a championship program.

Great. Clawson hasn’t had a thing to do with BGSU in 8 years. Did he say Scot Loeffler is a great coach? If we fired Loeffler, do you think he would hire him? Nope and nope. Has anyone reached out to Gary Blackney for his assessment on things? Why not talk to Doyt Perry’s kids?

He’s just doing his best to hang on at this point. If he had a real plan, there would be positive results and he wouldn’t have to keep mentioning his plan.
Well coached young players can compete in this conference. Problem is you have to coach them. Not just blame them when things don’t go well.
I’ll say it again….if you want to see a real change, Moosbrugger needs to go. If he makes the next hire, this program may be stuck at the bottom for the next 5-8 years.

I think we can see that your grievance is not with any football coach in particular. You grievance is with the entire football enterprise.

He has a plan, it just depends on the week. He was going to build it with local kids. Now he is going to build it with transfers and in the weight room. Name another coach in the history of college football who had 3 defensive coordinators before a game was played. He’s all bullshit. He always has been.
Final reality came out in that rant about Babers. No good coach in the lowest moment would need to do that.

And it took him 8 seasons to get there. 2-3 bad seasons, 4-5 middling seasons. I do not think Loeffler is Clawson. Clawson is one of the best coaches in the country and we were lucky to have him. I do think Loeffler is putting us in a better long-term position than Babers or Jinks. I also think Loeffler should be a lot better about shouldering some of the blame for the issues that have happened this season rather than continuing to blame the past. That said, I really do think next season we will see a winning team again (assuming we aren't gutted by departures, which is a very bold assumption at this point). I might be wrong, and if I am, I think it'll be time for a change at the helm, but I have seen too much forward progress this season to throw in the towel on the current staff now.

Clawson had been a head coach at multiple schools, Loeffler hadn’t left a job on his terms in nearly a decade. The have nothing in common. Zero.
