From Bowling Green to Bowling Green with a stop in Morgantown in between. I guess he has something in common with Dan Dakich.
Sort of...

Doege is on the move yet again. He’s back in the portal after bailing out of WKU.

Big risk with most teams being less than three weeks away from kickoff.

It would be crazy for him to be able to swing the starting job, but I wonder… Marshall?

From what I can tell looking at their roster as I’m still half asleep, they only have one non-freshman QB, and it’s Henry Colombi - who arrived in January after 2 years at Utah State and 2 years at Texas Tech. Colombi will obviously be more familiar with the system/playbook having been there for the past 8 months, but he appears to have never started a game before. And Doege apparently likes the southern Ohio/northern KY/West Virginia area.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see JD on the other sideline on homecoming?!

Saw Marshall being floated around on social media. Would be surreal seeing him back at the Doyt on the opposing sideline. Dunno if a coach is daring enough to take a flyer on him given every program is in camp with either a settled QB or have competitions already going on. A move like that could be genius or could disrupt team chemistry. I think it says a lot about Jarret though that he bounces once he sees things aren't going to end up going his way.

Indeed. A head coach would have be pretty desperate to bring this guy in at this point.

Unbelievable.

What's kind of sad is WKU's QB Austin Reed was a D2 transfer out of West Florida in 2019. He's done well to learn their system but damn if that doesn't sting the ego a little bit.

No doubt he's better than any current option here. He's honestly better off at a G5 program. He had a rather average season in 2021 at WVU and the temperature online is that most WVU supporters were glad to see him go.

I wouldn't, and it isn't a close call for me.

The season starts in less than three weeks. There is no way this dilettante mercenary is going to understand how to play quarterback at Bowling Green in three weeks.

He obviously has character issues. When the going gets tough, Jarret Doege gets going... to the transfer portal.

Matt McDonald has had 3 years here and 5 with our Head coach and still hasn't learned how to play QB at Bowling Green. I'd gladly take my chances with Doege, he's infinitely more talented right off the bat. Of course our coach thinks college offense is the equivalent of launching a rocket to Mars, so god knows he'd be hard pressed to learn it in 3 weeks. Still, McDonald in 2 seasons here has only a couple hundred more yards than Doege last year and less TDs. While averaging less yards per attempt and throwing more INTs.

McDonald is garbage at QB, but I'll give him some benefit of the doubt that its largely because he has inept coaching. Still, just watching the 2 throw a football side by side is enough to know beyond a shadow of a doubt who is the better QB. I don't know that Doege has "character issues" either. I know he wants to start and if he isn't going to start he'll gladly bolt a program. I don't know that McDonald doesn't have the exact same flaw considering he bolted BC for that reason and has never even had an ounce of competition allowed with him here in 3 years.

Either way the discussion is moot. Doege won't be returning, Loeffler will continue with his pet project, and the offense will probably continue to suck. I feel that these three things are about as set in stone as the sun coming up tomorrow.

Brian's post is EXACTLY why I (didn't but) would feel completely comfortable taking the under on the 3.5 wins this year in Vegas . . .

I have absolutely zero faith that McDonald all of a sudden learned how to be a D-1 quarterback and less that Loeffler is a D-1 head coach

Everyone seems to be pinning their hopes on this "revamped" offensive line . . . Ok, but a bad P5 OL is still a bad/mediocre G5 OL ... it's not like we all of a sudden found five All MAC guys or even 2 in the Portal

With unlimited transfers in college football, this kind of move will be the norm. Don't like being second on the depth chart? Adios. No kid moving around like that will mature as a player or a person. It takes discipline to sit and learn.

Yet another rapid fire change that will kill the sport.
