Here's a preview from a guy who has a sense of humor. I've always been of the mindset that Pete Fiutak really only looks at last year and pretty much assumes status quo for the most part. He thought the 2006 team would win the MAC after the 2005 team was so close. He though the 2007 team would be a gutter team after the 2006 team was a disaster. So no surprise that he has low expectations here. But still some good critiques there. He's not friendly to the offense, not that anybody has been.

Re: Pete Fiutak's preview
I don't think anyone thinks this offense is going to light up the scoreboard and drop 40 every week. However, they scored 12.5 more points per game in MAC play in 2021 vs. 2020 - a significant jump.MarkL wrote: ↑Tue Jun 28, 2022 5:01 pm https://collegefootballnews.com/2022/05 ... es-players

The actual full stat that I just calculated because it's June and my Falcon Football itch needs to be scratched:
In MAC play:
2020, BG averaged 11.4 points per game on offense and gave up 45.0 on defense, losing by an average of 33.6 points per game.
2021, BG averaged 23.9 (+12.5) points per game on offense and gave up 36.0 (-9.0) on defense, losing by an average of 12.1 points per game.
If we could score 7 more points per game, that would put us up over 30 per game (30.9), which last year would've ranked in the top 50 scoring offenses in the country. Factoring in the idea that the defense should take another step forward and bring the scoring defense to a more consistent/sustainable level, and we might have a pretty competitive team on our hands this fall.
