Fall Camp 2022

Post by roguewarrior »

Camp starts today. Pretty much everyday till 10PM. Hopefully everyone stays in one piece! NCAA rules can’t go full pads back to back, so should be a tad less grueling than historic. Flight to Rose Bowl in about 4 weeks!
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

I know that you (along with all of us) are skeptical about the coaching staff/game planning, but it sounds like the team is a lot more confident and together heading into this season than it has been in several years. Have you gotten that impression from your kid as he has gone through summer workouts, or does he not really talk much about it?

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Team is definitely more confident. Most all of the large group of knuckleheads are gone. Every aspect of on and off the field is vastly improved, over the last several years. He is part of inner circle of on and off the field team leaders, so the team driven talk is legit. Wildcard on the minds is if the O-Line will hold their water….. he could see us winning 8….. down to 3. Some questionable personnel choices are always there, but probably true of every team. Cautious Optimism is what I guess is his feel…?

All good things. Cautious optimism is probably the right term to describe the upcoming season. Just hope the team survives the tough non-conference slate with minimal injuries.

The two biggest questions I've got. One, how does the o line shake out? Given the raw number of transfers, how many become starters? And two, who wins the QB2 job?

I think Cam Orth is the clear #2.

Given the experience levels of the back ups...Orth would almost have to be the back up. Others have mentioned that the steps taken this offseason should have been taken a year ago. I definitely agree with that.

Blade article regarding some standouts thus far from camp, including a surprise freshman cornerback.
