Watching Matt McDonald reminds me so much of my frustration watching Adam Dunn (or Dave Kingman for the old folks) either strikeout, walk or hit a homerun. The only consistency is inconsistency.
Each game McDonald will provide you all the evidence necessary proving he is not a starting quarterback by missing the easiest of throws or making receivers adjust to balls thereby unable to do anything after the catch. It's exhausting.
But....for some reason.... he can can hit the occasional mammoth shot to win the game. I'd go so far to say he's actually better on the move than sitting in the pocket. He is the ultimate woulda, coulda, shoulda quarterback and for all his shortcomings, you just never know when he might do something spectacular.

Good analogy to those strikeout prone home run hitters.
Another analogy would be my golf game. I look like a total clown on the course most of the time but then I catch that one swing just right and it gives me a flicker of hope for the future and also makes my wonder why the heck I can't do it like that all the time. Frustrating indeed.
