We win and buffalo doesn't win both their last two games which includes them not playing the Akron game this weekend

If BG wins and Buffalo drops a game (or doesn’t play) against either Akron or Kent State, we’re in Detroit. That’s all it takes.

Akron/Buffalo game has been declared a no contest. BG now just needs to beat Ohio and they go to Detroit.

That really sucks for Buffalo. They can't control the weather and had a really good shot at winning their last two games. It's a shame the MAC didn't have a better plan in place for them to play the game elsewhere.

I’m not sure this is right. According to the MAC’s post, if it’s:

BG 6-2
Ohio 6-2
Buffalo 5-2

Buffalo would actually go to Detroit because of the uneven games tiebreaker policy. It goes by head to head against each division team, starting from the top. All 3 have beaten Miami, while BG and Ohio have lost to Kent while Buffalo will have beaten them in that scenario, sending Buffalo to Detroit.

Seems like BS that they can get there with less wins, but that’s how it’s laid out.

You're right, there was more to it. BG needs to beat Ohio and Buffalo still needs to lose to Kent State.

Ah, wait nevermind. Needed to actually go read everything on the website.

In that case, that really sucks for BG! Obviously, chances are Buffalo would have handled Akron, but to play less games with fewer wins and make the championship doesn't seem like the correct decision either. Either way, the MAC botched it.

How did Buffalo get out of playing MACtion games to end the season in the first place? Why are their last 2 games on Saturdays?

Good question. Probably has to do with TV availability. ESPN has NHL and NCAAB during the week at this point in the year. Their game against Akron was supposed to be on CBSSN. Can be my only thought. Same thing kinda happened last year with BG playing Ohio on Black Friday.

Given the way Buffalo kicked our butts a few weeks back, I can't complain too hard about this. It would be odd seeing a team with a lower winning percentage advance to the MAC title game, though.
