2022 Bowl Game
Jerry Palm guesses Bowling Green will end up in Boise playing Utah State.

I think we are all guessing right now, but this makes some sense to me. We've had such a rough go of it these past few years that many of us are just happy to be in the post season and not too picky about the location. It doesn't hurt that footage of Bowling Green beating Toledo in the Glass Bowl snow would look nice in promoting this game.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Not sure how accurate his lesser bowl projections are. He has Sparty going to a bowl which seems unlikely after their loss to Indiana yesterday. Do agree BG is slated to go to either Idaho or Bahamas. EMU is probably a lock for Detroit.

Flights to the Bahamas from DC are only $300 for that weekend. Hmmm....

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
MAC Bowl payouts:
Bahamas 225K
Lending Tree $1.5M
Potato $800K
Camellia $300K
Arizona $350K
Quick Lane $2M (MAC is 2nd choice to replace either B1G or ACC)
There are other G5 bowls available to the MAC but the conference will not have enough eligible schools this season to be considered for them.
Potato Bowl would seem like a best case scenario, especially if the team finishes 6-6.

The MAC Twitter account posted just now that the winner of Miami-Ball State tonight is heading to the Bahamas Bowl.

Lowest payout so makes sense whoever squeaks in goes there. Would be a fun spot for a nice vacation though!

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Some pretty pathetic payouts, especially the Bahamas.would cost more to take team than payout. Nice weather but ….
Also, would we send the ENTIRE TEAM ? One way to get kids into portal if they’re NOT included.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Outside of the bowl game in Detroit…all these bowl games cost MAC teams a lot of money.
The buyouts are never as much as they advertise, because MAC teams rarely come close to selling their ticket allotment.
You have the cost of the keeping the team on campus during break, the cost of travel, all the meals. It adds up.
You could argue it was worth it to reward the team for a good season, but honestly, not many MAC teams had “good seasons”
From the MAC…OU, Toledo, EMU probably all earned a bowl appearance. Everybody else just played consistently inconsistent and lucked their way to 6 wins. Kent State is probably the next best team, but they played an absolute gauntlet of a non-conf schedule and never got back on track.
Until they pull back on the bowls 6 wins basically makes it automatic…I don’t see BG beating any bowl eligible team from another conference…it’ll be a tough watch.
Although BG may end up facing a 3rd or 4th string QB with the way their schedule has gone this year.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Boca Raton Bowl or Boise seem to be where the team thinks they may end up.
Will be interesting who might sit out the bowl game. Seems there may be an exodus afoot…..
They are practicing this week. That’s pretty dumb. No opponent. Finals coming. Rest does wonders, something they don’t get.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
I had been curious what they were doing this week, since there isn't an opponent to gameplan for yet. Of course, bowl practice reps are important and help to develop guys. But couldn't the coaches hit the road and recruit really hard during this time and give guys a break instead? Still plenty of time to get reps between now and their expected 12/20 bowl game.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 3:15 pm Boca Raton Bowl or Boise seem to be where the team thinks they may end up.

I guess this is uncharted territory for this staff here, but you'd think they might be hitting the trail hard right now to set up the future of the program.
Side note - I hope a good chunk of our team goes to Detroit on Saturday afternoon to watch the MAC championship game in-person. Feeling that environment and seeing what championship teams prepare and play like could be a good learning experience for this program.
