BGSU will never ever learn…

Bowling Green State University where they want the coaches nobody else does. Too much ego and too low standards.

Even the boosters don't get it. The concern was how fast would he leave? What planet was this group at Poco Piatti living in? Had they even looked at Scot Loeffler's resume. Or was the connection to Urban Meyer and a possible conversation with him enough to ignore it. Loeffler hadn't won anything or anywhere since Tim Tebow. The idea that BGSU or any MAC school is looking for a coach who "wants to be there" is just myopic. Find a coach who wants to win, and win big. Naturally when that happens they get a better, higher paying job. Mr. Wilcox, Bowling Green athletics has no money. They cry about it every time things aren't going well. They treat fans like s**t, sponsors like s**t, because control and ego is most important. Bowling Green and apparently Mike Wilcox want lifers. In the MAC a lifer means mediocrity at best.

Back in reality Scot Loeffler is 13-28 or 29 had Covid not cancelled another blowout. He has no real quarterback on the roster. A win in the the Detroit Bowl a season ago for Tim Lester got him fired this season. Common theme, no quarterback. Scot Loeffler took a 3-9 team and got it to 6-6 in 4 years on a pure statistical anomaly. This isn't the Clawson model. The program isn't close to anything but mediocrity in it's best years. Scot Loeffler's resume said so before they met at Poco Piatti.

When BG calls for money.. laugh. When they tell you how poor the athletic budget is compared to Toledo....laugh. Laugh because they are offering extensions and raises to people the market has no demand for. They are offering them while complaining about a lack of funds. Ego over everything.

I don't know what Strack tweeted...he blocked me for...i think...calling him a dumbass when he prematurely jumped on the Rockies n bomb controversy (the guy was yelling dinger).

Briggs proposes a three year extension? Hell no. I'm 50-50 on letting have next year. I don't care how bad the team was when he got here...they make the same mistakes now, we have no QB's ready for next year, our main competition in the East beat us like a drum and our OL can't block.

Strack is essentially saying an extension is coming. Basically, Bob Moosbrugger must have been worse at his job than clueless, because firing him for the status quo is something.

Scot Loeffler can not coach.
HE couldn't coach at BC.
He couldn't coach at Auburn.
He couldn't coach at VaTech.
He cannot coach at BG.

Sure, keep giving this nepotism s**t more money because he was invited to Tom Brady's wedding. The fact that BG actually WANTS coaches who don't have ambition to leave here shows you exactly how clueless the administration/high boosters are about what this athletic department actually is. Nobody worth a crap wants Scot Loeffler because the dude's offense is garbage.

They surprised enough this season to justify letting him see the end of his contract. Giving him more money we cannot afford for more years that we won't be able to get out of is just asinine.

Extend him? Ha! Next year might be close to winless if you are relying on him finding and “developing” a QB for this offense. What if we get smoked in the bowl game? An extension is reckless….

If the UT defense could tackle...we're not even having this conversation about an extension

I’m still holding out a slight hope that if we look like s**t in the bowl game that he’ll be gone.

A normal school would give him a one year extension or a 2 with an out or something to see if this goes anywhere and let the new AD get settled. That seems reasonable to me

At the end of the day, coaches going into the last year of their contract either get at least a one year extension or they get fired. I'd challenge anyone to find an FBS head coach coached on the last year of their contract this year. It affects recruiting, hiring of new coaches, etc. I don't think he's the long-term answer, but he got us to a bowl game this year after seven years, so I think he'll get a one year extension with either no raise or something very minimal. Huger is as good as fired if basketball has a losing record in the conference (which, they will), so I think that will be the focus for the new AD.

It's great to follow the industry standard. That's the easy thing to do. Bowling Green complains constantly about it's lack of resources which aren't up to industry standard. Dare to do something different. Jans would have moved the needle, but his conduct was too much. The same old same old what everyone else is doing, with no winning standards or money, will get more of the same results. Toledo is running laps around Bowling Green and the gap will get worse. Toledo fans want the MAC Champion coach fired partly because they can't fathom losing to this coach.

Incentive and performance based extension is the way to go. You get an extra year. Want another year after that? Win seven games. Want two years? Win eight games. Want three years? Win nine games and win the East, and so on.

University should be smart too and protect themselves here and ensure any buyout without cause is minimal so we're not throwing away more cash the department doesn't already have.

He deserves one more year. Lame ducking him isn't good for optics to the team or recruits. So it's a show me year, here's what the goals are, go do it. He hasn't earned anything more than that in my book.

Running around to the media saying they are close could simply be for recruiting. It's in the media so it must be true, right? I wouldn't expect a formal announcement before the bowl game.

It's the exact same script for Huger's first contract extension, different dates and timeline. Tell media they are working on it, announce in a totally dead time because they know it won't 100% be received as deserved.
