Denny Stolz - BG Head Football Coach from 1977-1985 culminating in an undefeated MAC conference record passed away at 88 on 5/24. RIP.

His handling of his departure to San Diego State was a true debacle the week of the Raisin Bowl, but I’ll never forget my freshman season in 1985 and the Falcons going undefeated, reaching the Top 25 in the USA Today poll, The Miami Miracle and the goal posts traveling down Wooster after we beat Toledo with I believe 30.000 people at The Doyt. A very special season and I appreciate Coach Stolz for that! Rest In Peace.

I remember a media person asked Coach (during game week) how he thought that toledo game was gonna go…he smiled that boyish grin and said…”I think we’ll be OK”.
We sure were and he knew we were gonna smoke em!

I was a SR in high school and was at the Miami Miracle & the game vs. Tsun. 21-0 to clinch the MAC title. Got as high as #19 in the UPI and AP polls until the disaster in Fresno.
