at Georgia Tech (9/30)

Welp...the season marches on. Falcons travel to Atlanta on Saturday for a tilt with the Yellow Jackets. BG opened a 20-point dog. Yellow Jackets coming off a 30-16 victory over Wake Forest. Don't expect this to be particularly close. Last meeting was a 63-17 Georgia Tech beat down in 2018, Mike Jinks' final season.

3:30 on ACC Network.
Would be very on-brand for this program if we found a way to accidentally win this one, but I expect to get nuked off the face of the earth in Atlanta. Hoping anyone that goes to this one has a good time, at least! Looks like 80 and gray on Saturday.

Tech has a big, largely experience OL and a decent QB. I suspect they will score a lot on us. Looks like they run a 4-2-5 defense...we're going to have to be successful running the ball as that nickel defense should make it difficult for Bazelak to find much in the middle of the field where he likes to throw.
ESPN gives us about a 10% chance of winning

Press conference notes:
Hardamon is done for the season. He had surgery in Ann Arbor. There is a chance he could play again. Harbaugh along with Michigan players visited him in the hospital. Kudos to the Wolverines for that.
SL says there are mindset issues and they're "not a true team" which I have no idea what that means. Reading into it I think he's insinuating there are guys who aren't passionate about the game? Either way it's ridiculous in Year 5 to be saying that stuff.
It appears the inconsistencies in practice are continuing.
Orth had a concussion at Michigan, he didn't take a snap last week. SL said most guys wouldn't be playing with the injuries Bazelak has, but wouldn't disclose anything. Orth is full go this week, cleared by the doctors. I'd honestly be OK with him playing this week if he's ready to go.
He ripped the schedule, said obviously he can't fix anything but would prefer to play four non-conference games and then get into MAC play.
Personal opinion, but the media covering this team absolutely blows and asks nothing of substance. It's mindless quotes to fill their weekly columns. Maybe one of us should re-classify this site as a blog and get credentialed.

Playing out the string....he's saying the same things about Bazelak's injuries that he did about McDonald's in prior years. At least he's consistent on that. If I were in charge, Warner would be benched until...maybe forever...that hit he laid on the OU player on the ground could have seriously injured him. No place for that

The media covering these programs has been god awful very a long time. Dave Briggs at the Blade is the only worthwhile columnist with any care at all about BGSU sports, and it's obviously not his primary focus.
I hope like hell that Van Der Merwe realizes what he came into, but this is one way they could improve the program and cost $0. From all accounts I've heard the BGSU athletic department has gone out of its way to make sure only those lousy reporters you talk about can get credentialed and they shut off all access to anybody else. The department has actively tried to prevent people from covering the sports/events then wonder why they have no fan engagement or attendance.
If Briggs was no longer a part of the Blade he probably wouldn't be allowed near a BGSU press event ever again either. The department will close out anybody saying anything critical. And from what I heard long ago realized they cannot ask anything critical about the plays/coaches/department as a whole or they will have their credentials revoked. It's why nobody other than a single Briggs article has ever gone on record about where the Frack money is spent.
It's insane to see an athletics department that should be begging for fans and attendance to actively shut out information/access. The relevance of this site is as low as its ever been, but I assure you that the overwhelming opinion within that department is they'd like to see this thing shut down completely far sooner than they would give fans access. Maybe this changes, but it's been brutal for a long time.

I suspect the only 2 outcomes Loeffler is looking for is to get out healthy and for GT's payout check to clear. I don't expect any serious effort into winning this game. And given how bad the Michigan game went, that's probably not the worst game plan.

DVDM has been strangely quiet on social media re football of late...really hypes the non revenue (successful) sports thoguh

DVDM is going to start to separate himself from Loeffler as much as possible. Doesn’t want to get called out for the dumbest extension in BGSU history outside of Michael Huger.

He did the same with men's basketball last season (fingers crossed). Not much to hype up at this point. Last year both basketball teams needed new coaches while football had a bowl game. The extension has helped build a big recruiting class however there's no excuse this offseason to keep Loeffler around after last week.
Hoping Orth starts this week and if everyone is injured let Anderson play. Weather looks nice and I still have hope this game will be competitive like Marshall last year. Season looks toast but we seem to pull a game or two out that we shouldn't. Last year georgia tech was very inconsistent with two ranked wins and some questionable losses. Lost 42-0 to ole miss and 16-9 to Virginia both at home
Press conference makes it seem like the team is no longer bought in if they ever were. Could be a rough second half of the season

I'm going to the men's soccer game Saturday night. Because I'm a masochist, I'll watch the start of the football game, but I'm assuming it will be out of hand well before 5 pm when I head to soccer.
There was a time when I wouldn't miss a single second of a BGSU football game - if I couldn't make it to a road game I would watch, or listen to Todd Walker (or Dave Horger) (or Dave Carr, etc.). That time is long gone.

I recall DVDM telling Loeffler on twitter to "lead them". At the time...I thought it was an odd thing to say to a coach entering his 5th year

I hope he suspends the two boneheads selfish players who keep getting unsportsmanlike penalties. I heard someone say he just wants to win about one of them. There lies the problem. He is the same as I in my book. There is no I or H in team. Kick them off the team.

This one has the potential to get ugly. GT has struggled for quite awhile and the program is starting to turn the corner. They are playing with more confidence than they’ve had in quite awhile.
Normally from their perspective you might see them overlooking BG and having their mind back on the ACC games….in this case they are really pushing to get back to relevance. I think they’ll be completely locked in on BG and dominate. I don’t think they are quite talented enough to put up 55+ points, but I think this will be in the 42-10 range.
