Harold Fannin injury
SL declined to comment on Fannin’s injury. Watching the play and the way he went down, it had to be a possible concussion the way he landed and how his head hit the turf. They took him into the locker room (for a concussion test I’m sure) and he never returned to the game. It makes me ill to think it’s possible BG might be without him vs Miami in a monster game. Playing without Fannin isn’t just a next-guy-up response. There isn’t a player in the MAC that means as much to his team as he does. Not having him next week would be devastating.

He returned to the sidelines with his helmet, so he passed concussion protocol. SL is wise not to say anything about it regardless of whether he knows something or not.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:38 pm SL declined to comment on Fannin’s injury. I would imagine he plays next week. Like Jp said, him being back on the sideline helmet in hand says he could have gone back in. But at that point, we didn’t need him to.

They even showed him on the sideline studying an IPad. I doubt he’s doing that after being diagnosed a concussion.

Re: Harold Fannin injury
I saw Fannin standing on the sidelines later too but SL didn’t say anything about him passing concussion protocol. If he passed concussion protocol I’m sure SL would have known this when he was asked about it after the game. Maybe he’s just not wanting to comment but the fact nothing positive has been said makes me very nervous.
Trent Simms also went down with about :30 left in garbage time. He was in pain and it appeared to be an hand or arm injury. The replay looked like his fingers on his right hand bent badly as he hit the ground. We had a number of reserves out there late, so seeing a starter get hurt on a meaningless play was tough to see at that point.

Loeffler said in the post game that he didn't know anything about any injuries, hence the no comment.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 12:48 am I saw Fannin standing on the sidelines later too but SL didn’t say anything about him passing concussion protocol. Re: Harold Fannin injury
I just watched the presser and SL was asked about Fannin and it doesn't sound very promising that Fannin will play. SL said it might be a game-time decision. He also wouldn't discuss what the injury is. I'm 99% sure it's concussion related. The team is going to have to prep without him on a short week in the biggest game BG has had in I can't remember when. If Fannin can't go, it's going to be crippling to our offense. He's so heavily involved and productive that not having him would almost be like not having our starting QB. I hope like hell he can go but I'm doubting he's going to be able to play.

Re: Harold Fannin injury
I just saw a tweet that asked "Has Harold Fannin played his last game for BG?" I thought it was a BS post until I read through it. If he doesn't play vs Miami and if BG loses, that will end BG's regular season. That would also eliminate BG from the MACC. Based on the player trend in college football nowadays, he's very unlikely to play in whatever bowl game BG plays in regardless of the BG/Miami outcome. And this is also his final year at BG. He's either going pro or off to a P4 school next year. I don't want to jump to conclusions here, but after thinking about it, there is a real chance his playing days at BG are over if he can't go on Friday.

Keeeerrrrrrr-plunk!
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

If Fannin does not play on Friday that immediately puts an asterisk on any potential MAC Championship for Ohio University. 56 years and counting if he does not play Friday.

Re: Harold Fannin injury
I would be surprised if Fannin didn’t play in the bowl game. This isn’t a guy like Loveland or Warren who has played in front of millions of eyes every week all year. Sure some people are generally aware of him due to the PSU and TAMU games, but a big performance in a bowl game in front of some eyes would be HUGE for his draft stock. If he’s healthy I think he plays.
Brutal loss for Black Friday though if he’s out. We’ll see what Gazarek and Harris have for sure. Jacob Harris is supposed to be a pretty legit TE prospect, hopefully we see that Friday.

It means next to nothing for his draft stock and he'd be a damned fool to play in a bowl for BG.TerrenceJesus8 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:46 pm I would be surprised if Fannin didn’t play in the bowl game. I won't begrudge him wanting to be a part of the team one last time with his guys. If that's how he's wired, awesome. But no single game performance is going to move draft stock one iota, and an injury so close to the combine could severely harm it. AFAIC nobody that has locked themselves upas a surefire draft pick should ever play in the bowl games.
If I had a 6 figure salary lined up post graduation contingent on maintaining a set GPA there's no way I'd sign up for an extra class that could only serve to bump my GPA below that threshold.

58 yards from the most receiving yards in a single season EVER for a tight end. 1 win away from playing for a conference championship.
That has to be some type of motivation for him. I’d never advise a guy to do something against his best interests, but I have a feeling he’s going to do everything he can to accomplish those goals before he leaves.

Agree with this. Good bet he doesn't play in the bowl. My guess is he'll be invited to the Shrine Bowl or something if he declares for the draft. He'll be able to impress more there and at the combine than against a likely G5 opponent. Obviously if BG wins Friday and he can play, I would expect to see him in the MACCG.hammb wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:57 pmIt means next to nothing for his draft stock and he'd be a damned fool to play in a bowl for BG.TerrenceJesus8 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:46 pm I would be surprised if Fannin didn’t play in the bowl game.
