The MAC schedule has been released, completing our 2025 football schedule. And honestly, it looks as good as it has in years.
Thu 8/28 vs. Lafayette
Sat 9/6 @ Cincinnati
Sat 9/13 vs. Liberty (Homecoming)
Sat 9/20 @ Louisville
Sat 9/27 @ Ohio
Sat 10/11 vs. Toledo
Sat 10/18 vs. Central Michigan
Sat 10/25 @ Kent State
Sat 11/1 vs. Buffalo
Sat 11/8 @ Eastern Michigan
Tue 11/18 vs. Akron
Tue 11/25 @ UMass
Only 2 MACtion games. Toledo at home on a Saturday in mid-October. 6 home games instead of 5. A lot to like here, for me.

The MAC didn't do BG any favors whatsoever making BG play the top two titles contenders in back-to-back games to start the MAC slate off by having to play at Ohio and then vs Toledo. The Ohio game in the MAC opener guarantees BG a loss to start conference play. OU has beaten BG in 7 of the last 8 and Ohio has beaten BG like a drum in all those wins. BG also hasn't won in Athens in over a decade. That certainly won't be changing this year. It'll be followed up by a loss vs Toledo the next week as the Rockets return a good core of players and add some very good transfers. On paper the Rockets will have the best collection of talent in the MAC. But defending MAC Champion Ohio again has the best team. Both of those teams are loaded for 2025, so BG will start MAC play 0-2 and will already be eliminated from the MAC race before it even gets going. The good news is that BG avoids Miami and NIU, so that is a plus. Both of those teams have been a thorn in BG's side. Although at that point, it won't much matter that there not on the schedule anyway, the damage will already been done. That said, even if BG can somehow field a decent team (with the uphill battle its now facing with all the uncertainty with the program right now), a 1-5 start to the season is as good as it's gonna gets - that is - as long as they avoid losing the FCS opener. There will be chances at a few wins in the last six games as the schedule is much, much easier the second half of the season. But any hopes of BG going to Detroit will be crushed on September 27 and wiped away on October 11. You can mark my words on that.

Ohio lost the only coach who has won anything there in the past 60 years. He ditched that program before the bus even got back to Athens.
I don't think anyone is thinking about them right now besides you. We get it, dude. Take a hike.

No Miami or NIU. Non-conference road games are all within driving range. Toledo at home on a Saturday. Lots to like here.

Agreed. 5 Saturday games is so refreshing, MACtion in my opinion has tremendously hurt this conference

Given the schedule I think BGSU should wait until 09/28 to hire a coach. Because as long as Ohio is on the schedule, there is no reason to even have a coach.

We couldn't ask for a much better schedule. 5 Saturday home games and a pretty easy mac schedule. I think originally we were playing Miami and niu instead of emu and umass. If we're just decent we can get 4 or 5 of those last 6 games. Timing of the first two games isn't ideal but having a bye before toledo will help.

I will just clarify because I've seen it mentioned a couple of times here now:
There are only 4 Saturday home games. The opener got shifted to a Thursday night, and we also have a home MACtion game in November.

Should probably just cancel the season, why even take the field this season with 2025 national champion OU on the schedule

Such great optimism dripping in this post. What OU has done to BG the last 7-8 years has no bearing on this year. There was time BG spanked OU every year for 15-20 years. And BG did beat the rockettes pretty soundly on the road last year. Gotta get over the hump and get back to back wins but ut is no juggernaut. And OU's coach couldn't leave quickly enough for his next gig. No guarantees when the change happens.
Your constant sky is falling act was old 10 years go. Congrats, Eeyore.

The sky is falling act should be old - because it is old. That's the damn point. This whole "hey, there's always next year" approach BG fans speak about is beyond old too. Because guess what, each passing year IS "next year." I'm sick and tired of seeing BG stuck in the mud, spinning its wheels for a decade, while our peers excel and succeed. And I strongly disagree that what Ohio has done to BG in the last 7-8 years has no bearing on this year - because OU is going to whip the snot out of BG this year - again. Yes, there was a time when BG used to own Ohio. That's called in the "Past" my friend. As in over a decade ago now already. In the years since then, and in the "Present," BG is the one being owned, not doing the owning. In the past decade, Ohio has talked a good game, and has walked it. BG has also talked a good game, and can't back any of it up - except for what, a couple wins vs UT? BFD....Our peers OU and Miami have too - but in meaningful ways. Miami beat UT for a MAC title two years ago, OU beat UT on the way to a MAC title last year. BG beat UT and can what, go brag about it at a shopping mall in Toledo? Whoopty F'in Doo. As for the comment about OU's staff "couldn't leave quickly enough," it cements the fact you don't know the inner story there. But I wouldn't expect you to. Most people don't. But in due time it will be revealed what exactly happened. There is going to be a platform in the near future that will elaborate on what unfolded there. You'll know what I'm referring to now when you read that later. But whether Ohio has a long-time coach, a newly-appointed coach, or an entirely new coach- Ohio just reloads now. Look at the massive losses in the portal they had prior to last year, the first year they were really hit by the portal. It didn't even matter, they looked just as good if not better. Why? The culture, the recruiting, the mindset, the players they brought in to replace those departures, etc. Ohio is the poster child for consistency in the MAC. Ohio is to the MAC (nowadays) to what Ohio State is to the Big Ten - they both don't rebuild, they both simply reload. And as for this year's matchup, I'd gladly be willing to put my money where my mouth is on the winner of the BG/OU game. Straight up, winner takes all. Name the wager. I'm in.

Ohio just reloads now. Just like Ohio State. It will be interesting to see if Ohio or Ohio State will be ranked higher in the BGSU33 preseason poll. I just can't wait until the story behind the Ohio football coaches departure comes out. Nobody here will care, but BGSU33 will be happy to fill us in. Nobody will want to wager with you because literally nobody here cares about Ohio football. Can you believe it, Ohio football went from the MAC's Rutgers to the MAC's Ohio State inside BGSU33's head?
