On Saturday, September 6th, our Falcons (1-0) will head down I-75 to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats (0-1).
UC is coming off a close loss to Nebraska, but they enter the game as significant 19.5 point favorites in this one. We’ll have to bring our A-game to make it competitive or have a shot to win in the end. We can no longer rely on a random Loeffler special happening, so we’ll have to find a way to be the better football team on Saturday.
It’ll be a 3:30pm kickoff, and it’ll be available to stream on ESPN+ - though I’m betting some folks on this board will probably be there in attendance for this one. Love when our power conference games are local like this.
Go Falcons!

Will be making the trek down 75 for this one. Never been to Nippert before so can't pass up an opportunity to cross another stadium off the list.
Curious to see how this group stacks up against better talent. Should be a good test for the defense against a dual threat and experienced QB. Nebraska did a rather solid job of keeping Sorsby in check and limited his ability to throw. Looking forward to seeing how the new D staff schemes up defending him.
Offensively, can't imagine running the ball 40 times against a bigger front. Really need to see the playbook opened up and hopefully see Pyne not as jittery in the pocket. Biggest thing I'm looking for is who will be able to make plays in the pass game, and if the OL can open up enough run lanes to keep the offense out of 3rd and longs.
Cincy fans are rather antsy about Scott Satterfield. Get the impression he may be on the hot seat if things don't go well for the Bearcats this season. Not expecting his team to take BG lightly and tease an 0-2 start. Honestly, hoping for a good showing, no injuries, and the team can answer some questions especially on offense.

This game is so close to our Belize trip (9/9-9/16) and I need the money for the trip. lol. Hate to miss Liberty and HC as well but Belize is gonna rock.
Kinda surprised we are a 19.5 dog...

Freak, I agree that line seems high. Cincinnati has lost I believe 6-7 games in a row. Nebraska is Meh.
We have never lost to the Bearcats. I think it is a 10 point or less game either way

Since joining the Big 12 UC is 8-17. Over the years this program has had success playing far superior talent. Concern might be their head coach is coaching for his job. Sounds as if he’s on thin ice. But as far a Cincy goes I’m
Not sure I’d think we are in a huge deficit talent wise.

I went to UC for a certificate program after undergrad and have followed the program since. Satterfield wasn’t a good hire to begin with, Louisville fans were not upset with him leaving. There were rumors at the time they were interested in Deion or maybe even interviewed him, and he should have been the guy. There’s a good chance Satterfield is fired after the game if we beat them.
I don’t think the talent is there this year to beat them but I do think we cover and we’ll grind it to a close game.

Confirmed that the band will be making the trip for this game. They'll also be in Athens for the OU game.

Tiz,
If we had last year's team? We'd beat Cincy by 2-3 TD's...but we don't.

I think it will be a pretty close game as well. Also, at least after 1 game, the stupid penalties and mistakes under Loeffler weren't there against Lafayette under Coach George. With so many new faces, we cannot afford stupid penalties.
Great to hear the FMB will be there!
GO BG

I'll be there today. I'm expecting a lot of Orange today as I'm sure more casual fans in the cincinnati/dayton area will show up for a game close to them while it's close enough for the diehards to drive.
Cincinnati doesn't have an explosive offense and it should be a running heavy game. That will help keep us in the game to get the upset. Probably a 10-14 point loss but give me a BG game winning field goal 23-20

A lot of orange in the stadium early.

Not an awful start. 3 and out, but followed it with a defensive 3 and out. Got the ball back, got across midfield, but missed (badly) a 54 yard FG.
The fact that we were able to hit an explosive play on offense is encouraging. Keep going, BG.

Pyne looks more comfortable...that screen on 3rd and 6 should have popped but one of the OL wiffed on a block

I really think we should consider using Lucian Anderson in short yardage situations and in the red zone.
