Football and hockey are both moving in the right direction after down periods. After this weekend, football is generally projected to win out and have their first 8+ win season in 10 years and make their 4th straight bowl game. With a first year head coach and like 50 new players, that's not nothing. Hockey has their best freshman class in years - they're going to take time to gel, but they are raising the bar talent-wise in a league that is there for the taking. Men's basketball had what I viewed as a fluke year last year from injuries - I'm more likely to believe Simon is a competent coach who had bad luck last year than I am to believe he was a one year wonder. WBB... I'm starting to have one foot out the door on Chmiel, but I'll give it a chance - his resume when hired was impressive, at least. Baseball has been good. Volleyball is the class of the league. Both soccer programs re competitive. If you wanna talk trash about gymnastics or swimming, you can start the debate there. Stuff takes time, but I know you know that.

Also, I think the Pudge thing is goofy, but I also understand a program with our relatively nonexistent resources needs to squeeze every last drop out of their 15 minutes of fame while they have it. I don't think it's worth getting bent out of shape over.

While I haven't seen what he wrote (thank you block feature), I can easily guess based on your reply. Which leads me to ask why you're bothering to engage with this guy? He rolls out the same ol' trollbait time after time and all attempts at logic fall flat. He's still going to be whining about The Con Man 10 years from now.

My 2 year old son loves Pudge, so it's cool with me. I don't think it's worth getting bent out of shape over.

Earlier start at least allows more families to be able to attend. I know several people at work who are going and bringing their kids along simply because of the noon kick. Give and take like any situation.
