vs. Central Michigan (10/18)

Following the historic comeback win over Toledo last weekend, our Falcons (3-3, 1-1 MAC) will again be home at the Doyt on Saturday, October 18 as we take on the Central Michigan Chippewas (3-3, 1-1 MAC). The game will begin at 12:00pm EST and will be available to watch on CBS Sports Network. BG enters this game as a 5.5 point favorite at the time I’m writing this, and ESPN’s FPI metric gives us a 77% chance to win it. They are in the middle of their first season under a new head coach. Our QB will be uncertain in this game likely until the unavailability report comes out on Saturday morning. Obviously, the game is played on the field, but that’s the context.

CMU scores 21.8 points per game and allows 28.8. BG scores 22.3 points per game while allowing 25.8. CMU passes for 150.2 yards per game and rushes for 187.2. BG passes for 166 yards per game and rushes for 140.7. From this, I’d say we need to stop the run to win the game, as they are a top 40 rushing attack in the country. Without any common opponents, it’s challenging to compare the teams. However, CMU enters following a loss to Akron and then coming off their bye while we obviously just endured an extremely physical and emotional rivalry win, so we had better enter this one ready to go, as I think these are 2 pretty equal teams.

BG won last year’s matchup on the road 23-13. Let’s see if we can do it again.

Go Falcons! Beat CMU.

BG will be keeping the LT logo on the helmets this week as they celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1985 MAC championship team.

Gideon Lampron named MAC co-Defensive Player of the Week. 13 total tackles, ten solo, 3.5 TFL.

Coach and the athletic department pretty adamant on getting people back out this weekend based on the weekly press conference. General admission tickets are already gone.

Pyne is day-to-day. Got the sense from Eddie's comments that Lucian may get the start again.

We need Toledo to be the launching point of the season not the high point.

Perfect year for us to have 5 Saturday home games and sounds like we could get another 20k attendance

There's a clip on YouTube of the fat punter play, if you dare to watch.

Listened to Coach Fisher on the coaches show last night. First time i have heard him. I was impressed.

Listened as well. Very intelligent about the game. Not surprising given he's the son of a former long-time NFL head coach. Eddie has surrounded himself with really good football minds.

I don't need to watch the fat punter play on youtube. It is still burned into my mind all these years later from seeing it happen live from the West stands.......every last agonizing slow motion detail of it. :vom:

I can't recall if I saw it on this forum or somewhere else, but someone mentioned that Jeff Fisher was at the game on Saturday. Must have made the day that much more special for Brandon. Probably won't be too long before he has a head coaching position.

After hearing him on the coaches show this week, I came away impressed. Wouldn’t be shocked at all if he’s elevated here if Eddie moves on within a couple of years.

East side of the Doyt is sold out again this week. General admission completely sold out.

Still plenty of seats on the west side, but looking like another great crowd on Saturday. Hopefully the weather doesn't put a damper on the day.

My thought exactly. NOW the season really begins and if we lay an egg Sat, it will stifle a lot of momentum. We have a chance to go on a nice run here. I'm feeling good right now cuz this defense, with ONE returning starter from last year, is rocking. They fly around and so many guys are contributing. Even when they get burned or give up a BiG play, they come right back and fight. ST's are the best in the MAC and we just need to get the O running better...it will come. Once it does, we will be a very difficult team to beat.

BEAT CMU

I will never watch that again....couldn't make that game due to my radio job at the time but followed on the ticker at the bottom of the screen. Once I saw the play, never again. Even 30 years later, it is brutally painful.

And that 1994 team was one of the best EVER, at 9-2. Lost at NC State 20-15 in the opener and 36-33 to CMU. 9 points away from 11-0. We basically destroyed everyone else on the schedule, including hanging 59 on both Navy and Ball St.

About 1,500 tickets remaining.

This tidbit released from the university today. Good season to have five Saturday home games.
