Falcons (3-4, 1-2 MAC) @ Flashes (2-5 overall, 1-2 MAC) on Saturday, October 25. Kickoff at noon, streaming on ESPN+.

BG currently an 8.5 point favorite per ESPN.

A chance to move past last weekend's disappointment, I hope we take this opportunity and run with it.

If Pyne plays, BG has a shot at a win. If Anderson plays, BG very likely loses. I’m guessing he doesn’t play. George said he “probably could have played” last week and he didn’t. In the presser again he had the same sort of answer about Pyne but didn’t sound convinced he’d be able to go. Something seems fishy about all of it. While Pyne hasn’t been great, he does open everything up offensively with everything back on the table for BG, and teams at least have to play BG honest. With Anderson, it’s beyond obvious BG will hand the ball off and run, and run, and run again, and Anderson wants nothing to do with having to make a passing decision. And it’s beyond baffling that they used to bring in Anderson to run a little read option when Bazelak or Pyne were playing, but when he’s the starter, we rarely utilize it. Why??? Besides that, when he does try and throw, it’s a dump off or screen hoping the receivers can make something happen. He’s beyond scared and unsure of himself when it comes to making a processed decision. This is now Anderson’s third year in the program. He got all the first team reps last spring (because of injuries) and played last season, and he’s played this year, and still, nearly every pass he throws looks like his first. With him a QB as the starter, BG is playing with one arm tied behind its back. The coaches hold his hand for three quarters and then finally mix it up a little in the fourth. This teams isn’t even close to being good enough on offense or defense to play that way. It’s extremely hampering this team’s growth and identity right now. A loss to Kent State would be beyond brutal for a struggling BG team trying to find its way. It would put BG at rock bottom in the MAC. There’s no other way to sugarcoat it. Ohio ripped BG, CMU slammed BG, and BG’s win over UT was a fluke (UT blew that game big time as much as BG won it). But a loss to Kent State here and look out, the bottom will fall out. This is a must-win game for BG for reasons far beyond just this one game.

A must-win game in MAC football? Not really at all, unless Kent St. gets possession of Pudge if they win.

When has that ever stopped him? This entire forum could block him and he’d still make these posts.

I read it all. He actually made some solid points and didn’t try to praise the Bobcats in the process.

We need to see a response this weekend. Last Sat was a disaster...classic letdown after such an emotional win. We are a better team than the one that didn't get off the bus for CMU. Sure there is plenty of work to do but we have some serious playmakers. Gotta be locked in for 60.

The good thing is I only have a 20 min drive this week. Love when BG plays at Akron and Kent.

GO FALCONS!!!

Will be interesting to see what the mental state of this team is this week. Went from as emotionally high as you can get to being flat out embarrassed the next week. Now any thought of playing for the conference championship is gone and they are playing what is the 2nd weakest team in the MAC on paper. If they prepared hard all week and come out executing without dumb penalties and missed assignments, playing at a high energy level, then hopefully that means they learned from what happened last Saturday. If its the same group we saw last week, then this program still has a whole lot of maturing to do.

One thing is obvious - if it's still Anderson at QB, then they need to let him run a normal offense right from the start, not the offense you use when you are up by 3 TD with 5 minutes to go. There's no reason to stick with this ultra conservate BS anymore. Clearly, they don't feel comfortable letting him open it up to even a modest degree but how else is he going to improve throwing the ball in game action if all you do is let him hand it off? There's not much to lose at this point. If we turn it over a couple times, our defense should be able to pick up the offense - it's Kent State. If they can't, then we don't deserve to win anyway.

And if this site is down for several hours and Baron May winds up starting, hopefully the Falcons can generate enough offense to take, say, a 14-3 lead into the half.

AZZ is back online! Okay first half. Baron May is better at throwing but not by much. Dendy looks really good at RB. Defense is playing great aside from one hugely blown coverage that should have been a TD for Kent but was a terrible drop.

I like May better than Anderson mostly because I like his running style better. Had a few times where he's taken a bit and still gotten the ball away too...not really accurately but one led to a big PI call.

KSU kinda sucks so let's roll em

This team is just simply not good. The offensive line has done no favors to our qb’s. I’m curious to see what this coaching staff can do with some of their own players. This team does not have the dudes needed.

Is it bad X’s and O’s or Jimmy’s and Joes?

I thought the site had finally crashed, putting us all finally out of our misery.

BG imploding in the third quarter, now 21-17.
