Partridge has been let go. Will update after Eddie's press conference.

Significant step after only 9 games. We're 126th in the country in scoring, so not exactly a shock.

Tells me Coach George can tell things aren't working on offense and he isn't just sitting around and acting like there's nothing we can do to change it. I still think a good chunk of it is personnel and lack of depth related, but we've gotta change the whole offensive approach. Stop being so predictably conservative, become the aggressor.

I also think it’s simply the right (human) thing to do if things clearly aren’t working and you have no intention of retaining him after the year - he came along from Tennessee State in March, so he's making sure he has every opportunity to catch on as a coach somewhere else.

UPDATE: Co-OC Greg Nosal will be taking over playcalling duties.

Eddie added that Brian White and Dewayne Alexander will have input as well, likely more so in game planning. A difference in philosophy had developed between him and Partridge and Coach insinuated it was a mutual decision. He didn't elaborate on what those philosophical differences were.

A difference in philosophies would do a lot to explain why it never looked like we had an identity - different styles clashing never helps in that area. Hoping the next hire is on the same page as the rest of the staff and they have a unified vision of what it's supposed to look like.

My two cents (if anyone cares). I have immense respect towards Eddie doing this now rather than after the season. Shows he wants to win and still try to salvage the last three games. Also allows for Travis to move onto the next phase of his career sooner, and extra BG to identify candidates for the job moving forward.

Listened to a bit of the game Saturday while running errands..Tod and Gibby seemed a tad frustrated with the playcalling

There's still hope for a bowl. 3 games left.

I’ve watched most of our games and could never figure out if we even have an offensive philosophy.

This feels alot like the Jim Tressel variation of Mike Jinks. Cue the circus music folks.

We have 3 games to figure out if Nosal is the right guy or if we need a complete redo of the offensive staff. Happy George isn't sitting around when there's a clear problem and staying over loyal to his guys. This should be a wake up call to everyone in the building that the results aren't acceptable and nobody is safe if we keep playing like this

If beating Eastern, Akron and UMass convinces you we are a bowl team......sheesh!

To be fair, we quite literally would be bowl bound by winning out. That would get us to 6-6 bowl eligibility, and we'd be heading somewhere for the postseason.

You are correct but I think you are missing the point. This year MAC Football is horrible and this team is somewhere between bad to mediocre. If our goal is to get smoked in a bowl game, we really need to reconsider our priorities.
