Kicker of the Future...?

Post by Crew Love »

Just wondering if anyone knows whether Bowling Green has had scouts looking at Michael Busch from Findlay Liberty-Benton.

Busch is a 5'11", 172 pound sophomore who plays kicker and wide receiver for the Eagles. He kicked 62 PATs and 3 field goals this season for the LB, in addition to scoring 16 touchdowns. This was good enough for 10th in individual season scoring in all of Ohio with 167 points, according to the OHSAA. In a game on August 28th against Lakota, Busch set a school record by kicking a 43-yard field goal. Later that same game, he broke his own record by kicking a 47-yard field goal.

Now that Suisham's graduating and Fry and Timchenko are both seniors next season, one would have to think we're looking at some kickers to fill the voids. Since this kid is only a sophomore, if the school and coaches can make early contact and develop a relationship with him, it definitely would increase the chance that Busch would consider coming here to play. His older brother is already enrolled as a student here at BG, so the chances of him having a sentimental attachment to the Falcons exists.

If we haven't been scouting this kid already, I highly suggest Brandon sends some guys to Liberty-Benton next season. In addition to being an exceptional kicker and a great wide receiver for the football team, Busch was also a state qualifier in track and field for the 300m intermediate hurdles as a FRESHMAN. He has tremendous speed and is a true athlete that I believe could help the team out in numerous ways.

Just a little FYI, for what it's worth...

They are VERY limited in what they can do and the contacts until his junior year at the earliest.

In due team I think I will float the name of Nate Reed to them. Said he rec'd a letter from Iowa....and just recently competed at a nat'l event in Las Vegas where he finished 14th overall out of 170+ HS kickers. Was top 10 in...can't remember...but it was either FG's or kickoffs.

....and he is already used to Northern Ohio winds coming from Wadsworth.
