Our recruits shouldn't be decommitting for Indiana. That shouldn't happen.

He's going to a really good school for academics, but a completely worthless school for football. I don't care what Hoeppner says, he is NOT going to win a Big 10 title there. Good luck to the young man, but I would play for a MAC champion over a Big 10 doormat every time.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

This will give him more time around the Christmas holidays to spend with his family.

THey play a bowl game in Detroit?
2004 GMAC Bowl Champions
Where is that played at again?

I don't want to downplay what we've done too much, because I'm THRILLED that we've made it this far. However, I'm not satisfied, nor am I ready to act as though we're the premiere program in the conference. We have yet to win a single conference championship (since this turnaround), and doing so would mean more than all 3 of your "championships" combined.

Yup, who besides BGSU fans remember that we won the Motor city bowl? Or cares? Same could be said for the west and the GMAC. It's all about winning the conference. Marshall made a name for themselves by dominating this conference for five seasons. We have not dominated it in over a decade.

It's called a start.

Babies learn to crawl before they can walk and can run.

Same thing with the football program. You need to win games to win the west before you can win the championship.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Football program aren't either.

I'm not sure the ripples Bowling Green is now making in the national conciousness will grow much larger with a MAC title.

That's our goal, of course. I want to add some digits to the front of our press box as much as anyone here.

But I'm not sure a MAC title elevates us as far from where we are now as some of you seem to think.

To keep getting national buzz, we need to keep getting on TV and ranked in the Top 25 -- the higher the better.

There is a limit to how high we can be ranked nationally if we don't win a MAC title. But I see MAC titles as just one piece of a larger puzzle, I guess.

I guess here's the difference. I would rather win the MAC then have any of those things--especially the Top 25 ranking. And I really think the "national buzz" is a worthless and not what we think.

Put another way, how do you claim to deserve "national buzz" if you aren't even the best team in the MAC? If it hadn't been for the odd bowl eligibility deal, we'd have had no post-season play this year, and I think we'd look at it differently.

I could care less about being ranked. Our goal should be to be champions.
