CMU Propaganda?

Their official recruiting recap states that Antraz Burton chose CMU "over" BG, among others. Wasn't it reported that BG pulled the offer after the kid did poorly on an ACT test?

Nothing like completely distorting the facts of a situation to present your program in a more favorable light than it should.

The Chips are trying to grow a pair before next season. Lacking in any real achievement, they'll settle for having morning-radio-show style hype to make themselves seem like more of a big deal than they are.

Right on, Nathan. Seems like the Chips are trying to come up with an image & attitude. They've been down since 1995 and haven't climbed outta the hole since.
BTW, what's with listing every player on the CMU site saying they "chose" CMU over other schools? I have never seen that on any other team sites. Pretty stupid if you ask me. How about..."He wasn't good enough to play at Bowling Green, Purdue or Toledo so he settled for CMU". If we stay in the West, which I doubt happens, I hope we kick the crap outta the Chips again. Their students are the most obnoxious bunch I have ever seen.

I don't put a lot of stock in either the published 40 times or who the recruits "chose" CMU over.
If you look at Akron's site, they signed at least 7 guys that we supposedly offered to and also put a major hurt on Toledo and a number of other schools. Akron looks like a top 20 recruiting class if you believe everything in their bio's.
I might be in the minority, but I'm glad that BG doesn't try to hype a class by including that info. I prefer the resullts on the field.
CMU recruit info.

The one thing that jumped out at me as I looked thru this site....they signed 7 kids from Texas, 4 from Fla., and a couple from GA. If I racall correctly, we started turning the corner with several Ga. recruits. Meyer told me at the time he felt GA. was an "overlooked" state due to proximity to Fla. But I also recall GB talking about the advantage of playing Okla. was to extend our recruiting base to Texas area... And, whether you guys like it or not, the kids DID "choose" CMU's offer over other schools... interesting to see where they DID get recruited...seems to me some of our guys' criticisms have been that we didn't know if this recruiting class of OURS had been heavily recruited by other schools, especially BCS schools.

Bottom line, IMO, is that the MAC overall recruited pretty well.

Class of 61:
Goods points in your post especially about the Georgia recruiting, but CMU's info implies that those kids received offers from those other. That's a bit different thaan a school having a kid in for a visit or showing interest but not making a formal offer.
I noticed on CMU's site that they signed a 6'5" DE from Texas with 4.5 speed in the 40. He chose CMU over a Big 12 and a Big 10 school. Not bad.

Fine and dandy, Den. But why list the schools they supposedly chose CMU over? I just felt that was kinda stupid. Who cares? The player accepted CMU's offer...leave it at that.
