The Steelers edged closer to Tuesday’s mandatory roster limit by releasing six players today.
The six players released included four rookie free agents, one first-year player and a third-year veteran.
Released were: third-year defensive lineman Anthony Herron, one-year offensive tackle Morgan Pears, and rookie free agents fullback Darryl Kennedy, linebacker Nick McNeil, offensive guard Josh Parrish, and safety Janssen Patton.
The roster reduction gives the Steelers 78 players. With six NFL Europe exemptions, the team must trim its roster to 71 by Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. Without exemptions, the limit is 65 players.
