well you now how on NCAA 2005 they have the best players from all the premier schools on a team, all-time notre dame, all-time Michigan, all-time USC, etc., I made an all-time Bowling Green, I'll get the list of players up ASAP, my X-box is occupied at the moment, but I remember i've got J5, McClure, Omar, and i think danny white at the quarterbacks
I know what you mean now. Make sure you put your boy Pope on there. He'd be on my list by the time he graduates.Pope4Heisman wrote:well you now how on NCAA 2005 they have the best players from all the premier schools on a team, all-time notre dame, all-time Michigan, all-time USC, etc., I made an all-time Bowling Green, I'll get the list of players up ASAP, my X-box is occupied at the moment, but I remember i've got J5, McClure, Omar, and i think danny white at the quarterbacks

Joe Wyse and Chad Bukey were both tackles. Didn't we have an offensive lineman that played for the Rams back in the eighties that was pretty good. I didn't see him on the list. I thought Nick Sims was a better takle than Bukey. Brian Sherman was a great Guard / Center for the Falcons too. Was Charlie Williams on this list?
I'll show my bias here, but here goes ...
You must, absolutely must, include Doug Smith on the offensive line. I believe his last season was 1977.
George Schmelzle (sp?) is one of may favorite Falcons. As a FB, he wouldn't gain a ton of yardage, but he was a fantastic blocker and a sure-handed receiver. Not sure how he matches up against the three you have listed.
The TEs are a mystery to me as Landman and Ladd don't look familiar. However, in the same era we had Mark Dowdell and Gerald Bayless who both were important parts - blocking and catching - of an explosive offense.
At DT, I'd have to include Vince Villanucci, aka The Godfather. One tough SOB.
At DE, I always liked Troy Dawson and Stu Tolle. Not quite sure how they stack up historically, thought I would argue they were as least as good (and probably more consistent) than Crossley.

You've done a pretty good job and some of the names are perhaps more familiar to me than to the younger guys on the site....but Bob Reynolds, who, at the time, was perhaps the biggest Falcon ever, probably needs inclusion... had a long and successful pro career too, mostly with Cardinals if I recall correctly.
87, I believe, mentioned Stu Tolle at DE....interesting thing about him was that he was an all-state FB in HS....and came to BG as such; don't think he switched positions til fairly late in his college career. And Dan Saleet was an outstanding RB from Lakewood, who deserves to be on any "all-Falcon" team, whether it's a game or not.
Was surprised that you didn't include 1 or 2 more guys from the 59 Natl. Champs (small college)...an outstanding group of athletes, of whom Bernie Casey was certainly the best known.

I think you are confusing Brad Smith with a guy I pledged with and he was definitely no football player. The wuss transferred to Michigan after his freshman year. Speaking of Michigan, aren't we playing them next year?Falcon52 wrote:I think that lineman's name was Greg Smith or Brad Smith? Something like that.
