We are currently the second largest underdog in college football next Saturday. Same line as Missouri (32.5 over Arkansas State) and only UL Monroe is getting more points than us (38 against Auburn).

I am the pessimistic one, because I wouldn't touch that spread...either way.

I'll still be shocked if we keep it within 21 points.

I have seen the game listed as much as 35.5 points

You really think we will win by over 21? (Sarcasm there) We all know BG could win this game but it's just a matter of the team believing they can win. Last year at Purdue they showed me the believed then and I hope the outcome is the same this time. However, I wouldn't touch the spread because this game could get ugly for BG. Then again, anything can happen on Any Given Saturday

Sadly I am with the pessimists. We surely are capable of making this a game. However, it could get ugly. OSU wasn't built for a rout like Oklahoma is. Those guys are fast, and they can move the ball.

In any pool, there's nothing worse than seeing a 30+ spread.

Having said that, is there any interest in setting up a college football pool on Yahoo! for AZZ?

I've got a contest of sorts going on the www.ncaabbs.com MAC forum. Start with $1,000 and bet any MAC game you like against the spread. The challenge: Make the most money.

We'll see how it goes.

Asmuch as I hate to admit it, I would bet all of it on Miami covering whatever point spread they have against Michigan.

I honestly think Miami will win that game, especially having one game under their belt. Michigan had better be careful

I wouldnt take Miami this up coming week... I have a terrible feeling about this game.

Our run and pass blocking were atrocious this past week. Although if Michigan is foolish enough to kick to Ryne Robinson he could keep it close all on his own.

Being a Michigan fan 2nd to BG, I must defend. If Michigan loses against Miami (I do not see this happening), it could be their only loss of the season. They have tremendous talent on both sides of the ball but have the same problem we do. They are bringing in a new QB and the pressure is on. Without Perry, their running game may be on the down side as well but I honestly believe Michigan could finish in the top 5 this year.

I won't hold the Michigan thing against you

Two things - Michigan has a history of losing games they should not in the beginning of the year. Also - the old cliche' is that teams improve the most between their first and second games...I really think Miami gives Michigan hell.

While Miami(OH) presents a team that is more than capable of knocking off one of the "big boys", I don't see it. True, UM has a history of losing games they shouldn't, but alot of those are against West Coast teams on the road, or ND. What could get them is they never seem to have a "killer instinct" to blow open a game they should blow open. For the most part, they can dominate the first quarter of a game, go up 21-0 quick, and then pull it out 35-21 or so. I can see it being a close game, especially with Betts getting a "get the butterflies out" game under his belt (Oh how I wish Omar had one of those this week!), but I don't think Michigan loses this one. Miami is a known quantity, any question marks are on tape for Michigan to review, and so many of those Wolverines (Jackson and Edwards especially, having returned to school to right some wrongs) have a nasty taste in their mouth from last year's Rose Bowl. Unless Gutierrez and whoever ends up running the ball falter big time, they should get the win.

We can do well against Big Ten teams that play more of the "three yards and a cloud of dust" offense against us. Purdue and Ohio State basically played not to lose against us last year. Tressel is famous for this type of game...taking no chances and playing it close to the "sweater" vest with superior talent.

Oklahoma is another beast altogether. They won't be content to run it at us off-tackle. Their offense will spread us out and use their superior team speed against us. The Big Ten teams generally have the bigger stronger athletes when they play us, but they don't use it against us, rather they pound at us and try to minimize their turnovers.

Oklahoma has a wide open offense with game-breaking speed at all positions. Look at the teams we have struggled with over the last couple of years...Toledo, Miami, South Florida and Marshall. They all had wide open offenses with superior athletes at wide receiver, quarterback and running back.

Our only hope is that the Sooners suffer from the first week blues, much like USC on Saturday. But what leads me to believe this won't happen is that OU comes into this game with a huge chip on its shoulder. They lost their final two games last year and the media took them to task about it.
They would like to come out and make a statement with this game.

Factor in that we are breaking in a new quarterback and have an untested secondary and the 35+ point spread sounds about right.

I'll be right in front of the TV on Saturday hoping I am wrong!

Team speed is definitely a huge factor. Since ours isn't as good as OU's, I am hoping our team speed picks up on special teams and we don't start the season like last year. Against EKU and Liberty, we gave up a lot of kick and punt return yards. If BG doesn't clamp down on returns, it will no longer be about Oklahoma's team speed. It will be about Antoni Perkins' individual talent as he returns all over us.
