A Doyt Story...

So the Freaklings and I were in BG last Saturday for the BG/Ohio women's game. We are getting ready to leave town and they ask if we can go into the Doyt. Of course! We start walking around the empty Doyt as the sun was setting and the cold blew in. We climbed the bleachers in the end zone and then climbed to the top of the East side. We sang "Forward Falcons" and "Ay Ziggy Zoomba" at the top of our lungs. We shouted "GO FALCONS" and Jake did his screech...which echoed thru the stadium.

As we were walking back down the steps, Jake said "I miss the Doyt".
I feel for ya, son.
I let them know the spring game was only a couple months away so it will be here soon.

There is no other stadium that comes close to the Doyt....I love the place.

With that said, 205 days til kickoff in Madison. 65 days til the spring game.

GO FALCONS!!! 2005 MAC CHAMPS!

Awesome, absolutely awesome.

Looking forward to seeing the boys tumble around on the practice field again!

Brother Dayon,

You are the man! I love what you do with those pics. Just wanted to let you know I have them saved on my computer and they play as my screensaver. At the last Transfer Visit Day in January, I had some people make numerous positive comments about your stuff.

Keep up the good work. I enjoy showing it off!

I echo that Transfer! DD's pc creative skills are awesome.

DD, where did you find that pic?? Can ya provide a link?
That looks like the 1983 BG/UT game...in which Brian McClure threw for nearly 400 yards and BG lost 6-3 in front of 33,000+. :(

Not to speak for DD, but you can find that pic anywhere with a little digging... http://www.bgsusports.com/football/perrystadium.shtml

And yeah, that was the game, unfortunately. :(

Guys- thanks for all the kind words regarding my graphic work- man I love doing it and of course love documenting BG stuff- I HAVE to find out a way to make my Photoshopping a money earning hobby. . . I still want to come out with t-shirts for Bowling Green legends, The Doyt, and The House That Roars- stating neat facts/stats about each... basically cause I can't afford the Rob Blake and Nate Thurmond jerseys in the bookstore!!!. . . .

Yeah google will get you some limited pictures of The Doyt, like this one:

One thing TG, maybe you should point this out on your write up of The Doyt- it was originially called Doyt L. Perry Field and wasn't dedicated Perry Stadium until Doyt passed away- early 90s - I'll have to dig for a picture of Blackney, Mrs. Perry, and Jack Gregory at the dedication (re-dedication) ceremony.

Good point.

That pic is in the media guide, though I think it might be a tough scan due to the binding... I'd give it a shot, but I have a hockey game to get to in Columbus tonight!
