At Miami again, huh? Yuck.
On the bright side, that game at Muncie next year is about 45 minutes away, and for the NE Ohio alumni, they've separated Akron and Kent State, so that guarantees a game up that way once a year. And at least for the next 5 years, we won't have the "Toledo/NIU road double"...

Kdog: Not so sure about that and, honestly, I am not optimistic about our home attendance for 2005.kdog27 wrote:I hope that one of those home games is in September. I think we should be able to draw some good crowds with that home schedule. Better than last year at least.
Our 2005 home schedule: Ohio, Akron, Western Michigan, Toledo, Temple.
Ohio: Despite hiring Frank Solich, this is a struggling program. They drew OK at home last year (16K for BG, 19K for Marshall), but I doubt you'll see a Green Wave at The Doyt.
Akron: On the face of it, you'd think jackpot, right? Well, despite being a program on the rise, take away the Marshall game and they averaged about 12K a game at home in 2004. Could be a good draw, but this game would benefit from being played late with two teams in title contention.
WMU: Despite being the Family Weekend game last year (including two folks from Philly!), the East Side of The Doyt was relatively empty on one of the most beautiful days you could imagine.
Temple: This one could be our lowest attendance figure of the young decade. And for someone who sat through the Kent State game in 2003, that's saying something.
Toledo: Automatic sellout.
That doesn't add up to a stellar year, attendance-wise.

For personal reasons, I like next year's schedule. Miamie and Muncie are both closer to me than Bowling Green. So I should be able to make those games. My wife is from Canton, So I can make a Kent/Akron game every year too. And Flipper is right, the opposite Ohio/Miami schedule is a great. It adds a shorter trip at least once a year. I am extremely excited to go to the game at Miami next year. Most of my family (Parents, aunts, uncles cousins) all graduated from there. It will be blast to get them all together, and then watch BG kick Miami's a**. Need some pay back for the last 2 bets I lost to my uncle.

I was about to post something on this until I saw yours. This could actually a) kill the rivalry between us since we won't get to play them as often, or b) strenghten the rivalry because if they dominate the West and we win the East, we will get to see them in the game that really matters. Yeah I hate the fact we won't play them as often, but I think getting the chance to play them in the MACC is worth it!goBG wrote:Notice how we don't play Northern Ill. until 2007. I thought that was interesting considering all the media attention that matchup brought to the MAC with gameday and stuff a couple years ago.

Someone else mentioned this before, but NIU was a developing rivalry. It was years from being a big rivalry, IMO.
However, if both teams continue to field strong teams, the game will still have significant meaning when the meet in 2007 and beyond.
PGY: I like the schedule, too. There's a chance we could make the Kent trip, though I'm betting we'll see one regular season game at The Doyt and bank on a bowl trip.

That's only if Temple and Western Kentucky aren't in the MAC and BG gets moved back to the West. And only if current trends (re: teams' strength) continue.

Well, I agree...Where do you think we were in 2003? At the Doyt for Liberty. Last year we were at the Doyt for SE Mizzou State. This way, we'll have the whole weekend off. I'm sure I'll sneek in some games on TV.PGY Tiercel wrote:What to you mean? I can't imagine a better anniversary then being at a BG game with the wife.
