Friday night...Mrs Freak and I took the freaklings to the Green-North Canton Hoover game. Although lightning forced the game to be completed Saturday night (Green beat Hoover 18-15!!!! LOOK OUT FOR THE GREEN BULLDOGS!!!), I got a chance to sit down for a couple minutes with Big Jon Mazur, who was scouting Green for Friday night's game with Springfield. As most of you know, Jon is now the head coach at Springfield. He's doing well and will get the program turned around. He said "I knew you'd be here tonight!". The boys and I will be at Springfield Friday night as well.
We hope Green wins but we also want Jon to do well. Good to see Jon.
Also, I sat behind that walk on punter from Hoover. He was all decked out in his BG gear and was pumped about playing at BG. I would have talked to him all night but we were on aluminum bleachers and didn't want to get electrocuted! Unfortunately I forget the player's name but told him I remember reading about him in the Akron Beacon Journal.

the punter's name is JC Heighway.
congrats to green for finally beating hoover, and for ending the seventeen game regular season win streak. that qb that green has looks like he could be the real deal. i'm not sure coach hertler's plan to rotate QBs is a good one, though.
here's to a (hopefully) undefeated federal league season (although mckinley looks like they'll be tough this year), and a return match with the bulldogs in the playoffs.

Jacojdm,
It was a classic slugfest. And considering Green lost the last 3 games to Hoover by a combined score of 90-13

, this one was sweet for the Bulldogs. That Green QB's name is Cudniff and he starts at Safety as well. In addition, he longsnaps on punts!!
Hoover looks tough again and I know they will be a force in the Federal League. Do Boardman and Austintown Fitch start in the Fed this yr?
Thanks for the punter's name. Seems like a nice kid!

boardman and fitch started last year, actually. mck started all sports but football last year.
i love the green/hoover rivalry that's budding. hearing from people at home, i think its begun to supplant louisville as the biggest rival not including jackson. plus, i love seeing lots of orange out there on the field.
green will be tough with cundiff; best of luck to the bulldogs, and darn that rainstorm for slowing the vikings' momentum.

Hey Freak I will see you Friday night!
Springfield is a young team starting 6 Soph. and 2 Freshmen (gulp)! Due to injuries Springfield is down to their 3rd string QB

so I am afraid they are going to take some lumps this year. But I am hopeful that Jon will be able to wake up the echos to when he was playing and Springfield was going to the state playoffs every year.

See ya there Breeze! I kinda figured Jon would need some time but the players I talked to said they LOVE him as the coach....he's drving them hard but they say he's very fair and respectful.
Jaco,
Seeing all the orange on the field was the best!! Hoover has this big ole fullback, #42, that will run over anyone in his path.

Were you at the game?
