See you Saturday

Post by Rhino »

Have a safe trip and I hope you enjoy your weekend in Norman/OKC.

Traffic sucks in Norman before and after the game, so get there early and leave late. There's plenty to do before and after. There are plenty of tailgates that will welcome you over for free food and brews. They aren't trying to trick you or anything. They're just being nice.

If you're looking for Norman food and brew, stop by O'Connells off Lindsey & Jenkins. Good brew, decent food, great atmosphere. You can't miss it. The Mont(burgers and girly-drinks) on Classen & Boyd. On Campus Corner, Louies(Drinks & Sandwiches) & Al Eschbach's(Everything & Beer) are two hot spots. The Library(Pizza, Pretzels, Good beer) is hidden behind some shrubbery, just west of Campus Corner on Boyd.

Just understand that everything will be packed.

For Friday night, hit up Champions(NW36th & Robinson). Or go to Bricktown in OKC. There's two big concerts there that night(Phil Collins, Bob Dylan&Willie Nelson), so it should be happenin.

If you like live music, go to Campus Corner. The Deli always has good bands. Red Dirt Cafe has a boatload of red dirt and americana music. Brothers, Othellos & The Firehouse always have bands too. On Saturday night, Mr. Bills (Stubbeman Village, west of the dorms--the big towers south of campus), there's a couple good bands. If you looking for "adult entertainment", only go to Sugers if you're insanely desperate.

There will be a couple bad apples, as normal with any fan base. But, I think you'll find a majority of OU fans are gracious and glad you're there. And more importantly, glad football is here.

Also, if you haven't been over at Soonerfans.com yet, come on over. Just be prepared that we're a little crazy, sarcastic and none of us take ourselves seriously.
