A column we missed, I think

First, I apologize if we've discussed this column before.

I'm not one to mindlessly bash Toledo.
But this paragraph was interesting:
No one should be surprised that the Rockets also brought up the basement in the Mid-American Conference, while Bowling Green (929) ranked third-best in the league.
This suggests the consensus in The Blade newsroom matches some of the rhetoric we see here at AZZ.com. And, frankly, I take the buzz at The Blade more seriously. Those guys at The Blade are in a position to see and hear a lot more than we do.
I don't want to start another round of Toledo bashing here. That isn't my point.
The sweet thing about these new academic ratings is that there is no need to bash Toledo at all.
Either they clean up their act in a hurry, or we are going to start running them over like a Mack truck on a regular basis.

Yikes! It's going to take quite a bit for them to reverse that, I'm afraid.
I hope they do because that just raised the MAC up. Buffalo is a bit of a surprise since they boast of having some great education programs.
Miami isn't a surprise.........darn it all.
Who is second in the new calculation. Ball State?

I'm somewhat suprised we ranked as highly as we did. A substantial portion of Brandon's firt class has washed out. That's not entirely suprising since he had a large number of scholarships to give and not much time to work with.

Good point. I didn't think of that angle. It may show a very good support structure within the athletic dept. Either that or they all majored in IPCO [ducking]

Miami, OH Miami. BG is a DARN good school, albeit lacking in aesthetics. No offense.

But BG has, if memory serves, one of the top teaching schools in Ohio, and Ball State has the number one teaching school in the Country. Miami has ALWAYS been famous for it's good education, selectivity(HAHA, preppyness), and AMAZINGLY beautiful campus. In fact Robert Frost called it the most beautiful college in the world. HEH! EAT THAT OU! Anywho, GO GET 'EM FALCONS! YOU EAT 'EM UP ON THE FIELD AND IN THE CLASS ROOM! You do your school, your state, your country, and the World proud.
Did I just say that..... uh oh. Almost as bad as complimenting a Bobkitten, or a Beerkitten

Thanks for the kudos - we all knew BG was a better school than our reputation seemed to be. I will compare ACT scores with anyone at Miami...We are the Harvard of NW ohio.
HOWEVER
Don't get me started on Miami's "AMAZINGLY beautiful campus." That overly homogenous red-brick martha stewart wanna-be boring-ass campus makes me puke.
::puke::
Sorry if I offend.

Nah. I just like trees, and dislike concrete EVERYwhere.
Wait I am STILL looking for the fabled One BG tree. I looked for a FULL day and missed it..... couldn't find it.
Martha Stewart? uh huh. WE don't go to jail

. UT does. OU does. Miami doesn't we are the Harvard of the Ohio. We are BETTER, we are MIAMI!
You are BG. That is all. 8) you are STILL an amazing school......

Toledo.... SHOULDA LEFT IT TO MICHIGAN! Although, would that have left BG in Michigan?

Can Toledo have a game without the coach having a sandwich or two? BOTH times I saw UT, once behind, and one from the other side, he had a woman following him with towel, and she WIPED his shirt after he ATE.... ON THE FIELD!

We had fun with that....
HEY COACH! EAT A SALAD!
(No offense to ANYONE but the Rockets.....)
and then to Gradkowski(their QB)
HEY(whatever his number) AT LEAST THE BAND GETS TO TOUCH THE FIELD!
They had a guy with a Mullet
Wakeman was his name...
We chanted Mullet! MULLET! MULLET! MULLET! he showed it, so we chanted SID BURNS SIDEBURNS!
They had a guy named Hay too. we changed a stand cheer for him
5-2-3 HAY! (cadence) 5-2-3 HAY (cadence) 5-2-3 Hay (cadence) AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AHHHHH HHHHHHH!
HEHE, I LOVE HECKLING!

I loved the old uniforms, there was no need to change, lol. I hope they bring those back every once in a while.

Ugh - you are a band guy, so I will be nice.
Actually, BG isn't concrete everywhere. It has become downright attractive; especially the past few years. The most interesting MAC fans I meet are from BGSU and Miami. I have a ton of respect for Miami.
But I would die a slow death on that boring campus of yours. I am not going into it totally, but let's just say one person's "continuity of design" is another's boring, repetitive cop-out for not having to design anything original.
BG's campus is interesting. The library represents something. The Rec Center represents something. The union is amazing, and I can't wait to see the Sebo Center constructed.
It is just a reason people choose BG over Miami or vice versa. (I could have gone to either.)

Miami IS rather boring. But it is the Character. BG is turning into, and infact always has been, a semi attractive school. The one tree is a joke, that is as old as time itself.

I haven't seen the library, I was at BG for a day visitting, and from what I say, it could give any school a run for its money. Every school is beautiful to someone.
