Wow, that is really surprising news. I was at the BG-CMU game last year and was incredibly impressed with what a talent Jerry Seymour was. CMU has a real shot to open up the season with a victory over a Big 10 team, they play Indiana at HOME to open up the year Sept. 2nd. If Seymour is unavailable for that team, their rebuilding process will be severely set back.

Heppener is a good coach and I expect him to improve Indiana, but that may not be saying alot as they can't get any worse. After a few years once he gets his guys in his system we will see, but it isn't realistic to see anything decent happen right away. I would take CMU in that matchup at home if they had Seymour, without Seymour it will be nothing than the worst matchup in all of D 1-A that weekend (with the possible exception of whoever Buffalo plays.)
They can get worse. They actually had a decent team last year, as far as recent standards for Indiana football are concerned.NY-BG-FAN wrote:Heppener is a good coach and I expect him to improve Indiana, but that may not be saying alot as they can't get any worse.

Hoeppner, and I think he could very well turn IU around. Every coach has the ability(or he wouldn't have been hired) but Hep could do it. He kept Walker's momentum up here at Miami, and took it to the next level. I just wish he woulda stayed. Kinda like Woody Hayes, Ara Parseghian, or Bo Schembechler..... liked them to have stayed at Miami. If they would have, WE would have at LEAST three national championships....
Oh well, par for the course...

Buffalo Vs HEIDELBERG (Div-III) could be the worst matchup. Heidelberg last year 0-10. 58pts scored 341 given up. Led only 6 minutes all season.

But, since we are talking about the dregs of Ohio football -- lets talk Hiram.
They were winless last year. Outscored 47 to 432. Never led a game all year.
And this is the shocker: In the season finale, Oberlin beat Hiram 48-7.
That was Oberlin's only win all year.
