Campaign to Increase Season Ticket Sales

In a week or so, an NCAA Committee will meet to consider a handful of new rules that would take effect this coming football season. One relates to attendance. It would require all Div.1A teams to average 15,000 in either ACTUAL or PAID attendance for HOME games once every two years. Speculation is that this proposal will pass.

It is unlikely that this rule will pose a problem for BG, although it could for some MAC teams.

Here's what I am thinking. Wouldn't this be a great time to launch a major campaign to increase season ticket sales. I've always thought that our season ticket sales were much lower than what they should be. How about some really aggressive, innovative ideas to increase season ticket sales.

Success in this area would not only increase attendance, it would also help in meeting the new rule. And, it could be a part of a major marketing effort highlighting the overall advance of our football program, including, e.g., the Sebo Center.

I'll do my part again this season and purchase 4 season tix! I agree about the low # of season tix we sell compared to other MAC schools.
One of the nice things offered is the Flex Plan.

I wonder if the fact that bg students get into the game for free would cause any problems?????

I agree, but I feel the athletic ticket office does a poor job of marketing/explaining the Flex Plan.

I am looking in to buying the flex plan package. Seems like a good deal. However, I thought it was also a slight (2-3$) discount per ticket compared to buying one at the gate. This year, the flex plan comes out to 15$ a ticket. Is/was there no discount in the flex plan or are GA ticket prices going up?

no, it wouldn't. the part about actual attendance clears that up for conferences like the MAC who let their students in free. we don't count against paid attendance, but we're included in actual attendance. however, i wonder if schools can combine actual and paid attendance. that would cover the problem of ticket holders who don't actually come through the gates and camp out in the falcon club tent or stay at their tailgate location so they can watch other schools's games. however, that wording of the rule doesn't seem like it.

As long as my kids can join the Falcons Kids club and get in free, I have little incentive to purchase season tickets.

Don't blame me for an attendance problem. The Falcon Club tent is INSIDE the gates. We're counted in the attendance figures.

See this is where things get sticky because in reality students pay for all games through their student fee... so doesnt BG actually have 20,000 season ticket holders? Miami charges all of their students through their student fee as well...

just food for thought!

BGSU Billboards???

We need to bring these back. Some billboards along rte25 and I-75 would be just what we could use. We need better athletic marketing plain and simple.
