35-7 EARLY in the 2nd... I wonder when they're going to start throwing punches ala the 2002 MCB?
**Of course, Brucie is 9 of 9 for 98 yards, so it must be closer than the scoreboard shows.

Holy f-ing Toledo

42-7 now - I can't friggin' believe it!
I wonder where all those a-hole prognosticators are now who said Toledo's defense wouldn't prevent them from winning. That they could simply outscore everyone.
NIU looked OK, but everyone else in the friggin MAC looked like sh!t today.
At least we lost respectably (covered the spread)
If this keeps up we will roll to the MAC title

(it won't - i know it is early, you don't need to tell me

)

I'm not getting the game (yet) here in Indy, was that a botched punt, or did Minnesota just straight fake one from their own 29???
at the half, UT has given up almost as many yards as BG did for a whole game... Maybe all these folks that talked about Minnesota in a BCS bowl weren't kidding!

I knew UT's d was gonna suck but this is comical! Last I checked Minny was up 42-7 with 5 min left in the half.

42-7 at halftime...so it should be 84-14 by the end of the game
I know I should root for the MAC to do well, but if Toledo is going to lose, having them be embarrassed is the best way. BG Fans tried to tell them that their D with a new D-Line was going to be porous. I also LOVE that those a-holes on the MAC BBS who said that Omar couldn't do anything against big-time competition were proven wrong today.
C'mon, Minnesota...RUTS!

I was saying earlier today that Minny would rush for 250 against that vaunted UT defense
Unless they hold 'em to 12 yards in this 2nd half I was mistaken

I think BG is the only MAC team that has put up a respectable game today. Ohio won but they played I-AA Virgina Military. NIU gave Maryland their first game opening win in 3 years. As for Central Mich., they let Indiana get their largest victory ever under Gerry DiNardo. For a day when the MAC had a great chance to step it up, things don't look too good. Scores are below...
BG 24 - Oklahoma 40
Wis 43 - UCF 6
Mich 43 - Miami 10
Iowa 39 - Kent St. 7
Penn St. 48 - Akron 10
Troy St. 17 -Marsh 15
Maryland 23 - NIU 20
Ohio 42 - Virginia Military 14
Indiana 41 - CMU 10
Minn 42 - Toledo 7 (at the half)

That's not respectable? of the MAC's "big 5" teams, BG and NIU are the only two that were respectable. To call Toledo, Marshall, and Miami's performances lackluster would be a compliment. That said, I think that we've seen in the conference over the past several years that these early season non-conference games don't directly correlate with success in the conference season. In the MAC, and especially in the west, home field seems to play an awfully important role. I'm anxious for the conference season to start.

As badly as UT's DL played last night, their OL was just about as bad. Minny is not known for havng a good front 7, but they did a great job of getting upfield and disrupting the UT offense.
I was mystified by the UT hype going into the season. You can't expect to be a dominant team when you start the season replacing so much of the interior line on both sides of the ball. They had a lot of true freshmen playing out thereon defense. They better hope they grow up in a hurry.
They may live to regret scheduling road games with Minnesota and Kansas to start the year. They could really be hurting going into conference play.
