Mel Kiper Jr.

Post by tekekini »

Jr. had a chat session on ESPN.com today about this years draft and prospects for next year's, I tried asking him questions right from the start about Omar Jacobs going in the first round. I also asked him if he thought Omar may be a better prospect then Leinart or if Leinart will win because of the name of his school.

he didnt answer any if my questions because he was prolly afraid to admit Jacobs could be better. He does have Leinart #1 on his board for next year. I hate Mel Kiper Jr. :finga:

No offense, but who wouldn't rate Leinart ahead of Jacobs at this point?

As much as I hate to admit it, think about the level of talent that Leinart is surrounded with and think about what Omar is working with. We have great athletes here and we are privaleged to have every single one of them. Still, what Omar is accomplishing with our team's talent level compared to USC's is amazing. Think what Omar could do with a USC team surrounding him (I think it's safe to say that now -- no risk of Omar transferring... ). Leinart may have proven more of the "intangibles" so far that the NFL is looking for in a quarterback, but I think Omar is going to take care of that this year. Remember, last year was only his first year as a starter and he still put up PS2 numbers and was able to use his feet to avoid how many sacks?

Bleeding Orange:

I'm not disagreeing, just saying that I don't think anyone would rate Omar ahead of Leinart right now. That might all change, but right now that's the way it is.

I would, but then again what do I know. I'm only a scientist, not a "ESPN football draft expert".

Here's how I look at things: if these "experts" actually knew anything about what they were talking about, they would coaching and not sitting behind a desk spouting the bad knowledge that won't afford them a real job in sports.

I don't think the issue is that he apparently rates Leinart ahead of Omar. Leinart's the reigning Heisman winner and QB of the National Champions. Omar put up great numbers for a three loss team that finished ranked #27

I have a problem with him ignoring questions about a legitimate Heisman candidate. Who knows, maybe he didn't want to discuss underclassmen at this juncture, But I should think that a discussion of college QB's with pro potential would have to include Omar.

Someone ought to start a petition or form a committee...I mean something has to be done about this!
