SEBO

Can we call it "Sebo" and NOT "The Bob"?

"The Bob" makes it sounds like an ananym memorial or something.

Saying "The Doyt" is cool. Naming everything after the first name of the person incribed on it is very much UN cool (and actually Robert is Mr. Sebo's MIDDLE name).

Next thing you know, Olscamp will be called "The Paul".
Prout Chapel: "The Frank"
Shatzel: "The JE"
Founders: (named after four guys) Let's call it "THE JJGF"! Try that drunk.
Hanna: "The Myrna"
Mileti Alumni Center: "The Nick"
Harshman: "The Ralph" You could name each wing after the first name of each of the people, but then you wouldn't have the A, B, C, D thing going. You would have S, L, J, P.
Stellar Field: "The Warren"
Perry Field House: "The Charles"
Saddlemeyer Student Services Building: "The Gerald"
Jerome Library: "The William" or "The Bill" or "The Willy" (which would be inappropriate)
Anderson Arena: "The Harold"
Hayes: "The Rutherford and Lucy"
McDonald: "The Ralph"
Williams: "The Homer"
Kohl: "The Clayton" or "The Doc".

I hope you all get the idea, here.

To summarize, it is the SEBO, NOT "The Bob."

I'm ambivalent on the issue. The "Bob"' has a more casual, comfortable feel, but may seem inappropriately infromal to some The "Sebo" sounds more respectful, but less inviting.

I think Bob Newhart is one of the funniest comedians in history , so my vote goes to calling it the "Bob"...

Great. When Newhart coughs up $4.5 mil he can have a building named "The Bob Situational Comedy Building." :P

Yes it is. So when someone says "The Bob", I think of Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix. I think the Sebo sounds a little better anyway.

That is why I am against calling it "The Bob."

From what I understand, "The Bob" was more of a joke among certain people an it caught on with others. You can call it whatever you want, but that won't change the fact that other are going to call it "The Bob", and whether thats good or bad I don't know.

I prefer to call it by its original name - "The SAC" (Student Athlete Center). .. for obvious reasons.

I also like the name "The Doyt" but also pepper in Perry Stadium from time to time. I remember reading an article from San Diego about 'The Murph" (Jack Murphy Stadium) and about how it did a disservice to the man it was named for. Jack Murphy was a newspaper man who was very influential in getting major league baseball in San Diego. Doyt Perry is one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football.

<gets off soap box>

Could always called it SACS (SEBO Athletic Center for Students)
